how to take a screenshot and find it on a mac?

I tried to do a search for this but I couldn't find anything. Maybe I'm just bad at searching, who knows.

If you're using a mac, how do you take a screenshot and then find your picture on your mac? I asked a guildmate how to take a screenshot, and she said F9, so I clicked that and it said that a screenshot was taken. But now I don't know where it is. So is there a different way? Or is my picture somewhere and I just can't find it?

Exactly. I don't think it works. If you see the file name of the screenshot that is created, it is a Windows filename (i.e. Blah/blah/blahblah/blah/screenshot.jpg), but those folders listed do not exist. I tried using Spotlight to look for "screenshot", but it found nothing. I think it is not saving.

However, as I started writing this post it occured to me that the easiest way to get a "screenshot" on a Mac is "Shift-Apple-3" and I just tried it and it works perfectly!

So thank you for helping me to solve this problem!

Correct. These past few weeks when I was forced to play on a PC, the pics were pretty easy to find and I took a ton of screenshots. However, F9 appears to be malfunctioning on the Mac.

However, as I stated above, most Mac users know about "Shift-Apple-3" (complete with camera sound effects!) and those images are saved on the Desktop as .png files with Leopard 10.5.2 where they are very easy to locate. Some older versions of MacOS save the images as .pict files.

Thanks so much for figuring it out for me!! I'll try it next time I play. I didn't know about the shift-apple-3, so thanks.

No problem. That command has actually been available on Macs for years but was never publicized. I think I first read about it in an old issue of Macworld.

"Shift-Apple-3" captures the whole screen.
"Shift-Apple-4" brings up croshairs that you can then stretch to determine how much of the screen you want to capture but this would not be practical for Pirates.
