earth from a big Alagator I've gone to Misty Mire but nothing happens. Is there another place I need to go to?

You could try Cuba, go in where Tia Dalma is and behind her cabin, you should find some Big Gators. Does the quest show that it's searching for the earth?

No it doesn't tell me where to get the earth from the big alagator. I'll try Cuba thanks.

Big Alligators can be found on Tortuga, in both Misty Mire and Rat's Nest.
