Well on my computer it lags a little during gameplay and am wondering if there is somehing I can do to fix the problem. Well a friend of mine has the game on his computer and it runs fine and normal, but mine is a brand new windows vista and it lags...

What is your ram? Also are you both on the same server? Send a bug report to Disney with your comp specs and log. They should be able to tell you what you need.

It's all ram and processor speed. Since its new I would guess that you have plenty of memory and the processor is fast enough. I have heard Vista is junk though, maybe your problem hehe. I would do what Angel said and send them a report with all your specs etc.

On the other hand, it could also be your video card. Try loweing the settings for graphics in the game and see if that helps. I know I had to do that and it is fine now.

Alot of vistas come with 512 MB ram and the actual Vista runs like crud on that. it needs 1gb to run right. So if you have Vista, and 1 gb of ram, ur PC will run fine solo, open POTCO and lag. I cant play it on my laptop for that reason.

I had to shut off all of my automatic updating on Vista. Now I have it notify me when updates are available and do the updating when I'm not trying to do anything else.

Somehow the automatic updating was shutting down anything related to the internet regardless of what I was doing on the computer.

i have vista and it runs perfectly (i have 2gb of ram this might help) but the game still runs like crud but only on tortuga! every other island im fine on its just tortuga i can tp there its difficult for me to tp away from it sailing into it and docking i crash sailing away i crash if i dont when i dock ill crash @_@

F7 to go to options, and check your graphics. Set to medium or low and see how that is,.

You can by more Ram, but first you should check out some things I think. The server you were on if there were a lot of people it was probably a busy server. If you want to compare to another computer test on the same server.

Even with a new computer I would check and be sure the graphic drivers are up to date, you can check that under the community site, if yours needs updating.

Under display you can move your hardware acceleration down, and turn enable write combining off. But this usually helps more with cuts and fragments in the scenes.

its 1gb min just to run vista, if you want to run anything you need at least 2gb.. 3gb and a decent vid card can run most games with all settings on high.. but as stated before, make sure you are running with newest sound/vid drivers. Also did you purchase a premade box? If so, they come installed with a bunch of crud that you probably dont need. Your best bet is to take a day and check out some vista optimization sites to get the most out of your pc.

From inside the game F7, or the "Options" button from the pick a pirate screen.

Clicking the "Graphics" tab at the top will present you with various options regardng the games use of graphics. Turning down various types of graphic detail can help to relieve video lag.
Also check the "Geometry" tab.

As far as programs you dont need etc. There used to be a nifty lil program out there called "EndItAll" which would reflect all running applications, and allow the user to 'kill' the applications/threads not required (it would make suggestions as well, or use what it knew to do it for you). If it killed something you needed, a restart would resolve the problem quickly. Might be able to find a similar application.
