Unable to log on to Game: Solution

Over the weekend I was unable to log on to the game. I kept getting an error that said they were unable to verify my account. When I tried to log onto the game website I would get a message that account verification was unavailable at the time.

I had figured that since I had just received updates for the game that there was something wrong with my computer. When I went to work on Monday I found I could log onto the game website but I still could not log on from my computer at home.

After trying to figure out firewall settings, IE security settings, deleting history, temp files, and cookies I suddenly realized the problem.

Friday afternoon I was playing with some old software and I had manually reset my computer time and date back to the year 2000. I had forgotten to reset it to the correct year when I was done. So I changed the date back to the current date and tried to log on. Voile! It worked. I was now able to log on to the game.

So evidently if your computer date is not current then you will not be able to log on to the POTC Online game.

I am getting the same problem too, except my time and date are current. Could it be cause I don't live in the states. It's weird, cause I was just playing.

I forgot to mention that I get this message too "We are sorry! Pirates of the Caribbean Online is temporarily closed for maintenance from 12AM PDT and will reopen at 4AM PDT. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience!". I tried logging on again, this time I got "the site is closed for maintenance". The weird thing is I was just playing before this happened, and I didn't get the pop up saying we're closing for maintenance.

I'm going to wait till the time for this "maintenance" is over and try then. I think the game is just confused cause I'm in a different time zone, .



It worked, I was able to log on after the supposed maintenance was finished.

I've had the issue with the date on my system before. Customer service figured that out and squared me away immediately.

As far as the quoted individuals comment...

I have logged out late at night, and have found that I had not received any notifications, nor had I been bumped from playing, yet I was well into the "maintenance" time mentioned.

I think that when they do maintenance, they take down the portal/gateway everyone uses to enter the game, but they do not necessarily take down all the servers to do thier maintenance. Not being on a server they were taking down, I was able to continue playing.

Once I logged out however since they were doing maintenance, the portal/gateway stated they were, and I could not log back in until they were done maintaining.. whatever it is/was they were maintaining.

LOL, I got the time/date thing too. I felt so stupid both times I did it. I guess if the game dont exist then, you cant really play it can u lol.

They were doing maintenance by the way, a friend told me he got kicked out right about the time when I couldn't log back on. I thought it was just me. Anyway, what was odd that at the beginning it kept saying 'Bad ID or Password' message. Then later I got 'The site is closed for maintenance'.

I get this ALL THE TIME! I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, my date is fine, have messed with the settings/router/firewall, etc... I find that once there has been an update I'm ok for a day or two, but after that I can't get back in again. Any other ideas?

What message do you get when you can't log on?

That day I got bad account or can't verify ID, something like that, then later (about an hour) I got that the site is down for maintenance. Also from the beginning I got this "We are sorry! Pirates of the Caribbean Online is temporarily closed for maintenance from 12AM PDT and will reopen at 4AM PDT. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience!" it was on the left side on top of the news. And like I have mentioned it turns out they were doing maintenance.

If they take down the authentication server, then you will receive the "bad account or ID" message. It all depends on which part of the system they are working on.

The website said I did not have an account this morning. The bad account or id on both pages.

I'll have to wait until their phone lines open later to talk with them.

One bad thing is the guild i was in before all the problems now has no members lol.
But i was invited to another guild and the guys rock.

I really hope everybody gets things sorted soon.
