Old guild mates came together for one last great trip over the oceans. Pirates I had not seen or played with for several years on a single war frigate plowing the seas and manning the cannons like we always had years ago.
It was bittersweet, kind of sad and loads of fun all at the same time. I stopped at all my favorite leveling spots and took one last look around. Only one thing I wanted to do that I didn't get to. Would have like to take the Pearl one more time for the nostalgia of it. It was a fitting way to end a six-year run.

It's touching seeing that most of you spent your last moments in the game doing something meaningful. I had meant to spend my last moments with Alice aboard her Red Queen, but unfortunately I went to go take a nap a few hours before closing and my alarms didn't wake me up. So when the game went down Alice was AFK, alone in the back of Tortuga
At least I got to spend the night before with a bunch of guildmates I hadn't seen in quite a while. We sailed into the horizon and ended up playing bumper boats, and I think that makes up for my lil blunder.

It felt strange logging in over the last two weeks. I had strayed from the game long ago, but after hearing of its closing I just had to return for one last adventure. It was sad to see my guild and friends list plagued by inactivity, just a bitter reminder of why (partly) I left in the first place, but the last day truly was special. I personally saw my list of online friends go from a maximum of six the previous two weeks, to a grand total of seventeen in the final hours. So many people I never imagined I would see again wound up returning to see the game off. I personally spent my final hours visiting places that held meaning to me. The day before closing I went to Tormenta, the home of so many glows. I then spent the night before at the back beach of Padres, fighting the General with a few friends. On the day of closing, I spent quite a while at Kingshead, the location I first mastered a weapon, and the home of the once infamous empty Kingshead glitch. Afterwards I went on a boss battle with Char and Char ( ), and we rescued the Pearl one last time. We then spent our final moments dancing away on the docks of Port Royal, only to be joined by many of our guildmates and friends.. as well as a large group of strangers who had gathered for the cancelled invasion.I'll post my pictures later.. they're pending approval |

Did the rounds of all the friends and POTCO family. Took pictures for keepsakes of all the great SVS gang. Shared sad condolences and goodbyes. Had a great time with all of you over the last 3 years with my main pirates, Davy DreadRoberts and D Bones. Goodbye, and thanks for all the fish. |

I'm really psyched for those of you who got to spend your last pirate adventure with your friends, especially those of you who got to be reunited with old faces!
The thing that had always made the game extra special to me was the awesome friends I had made along the way. I'd only come online a few times over the past year, but unfortunately, even though I logged in nearly every day over the last month, not one friend or guildmate came online. Granted, the vast majority of people on my friends list had been there since 2008 and 2009, but I still saw most of them around from time to time, so it seemed odd. I considered weeding out my friends list a bit since I was at the maximum so I could make some new alliances at the end and not be left alone in the final days... but when I considered the possibility that someone might come online for a last hoorah, I couldn't bring myself to do it. It was disappointing, but I'm glad I held out for them anyway. Would've always wondered if I had missed someone otherwise.Anyway, I spent the last day before closing going to every island and taking screenshots of various locations and my favorite nooks and crannies. On the last morning, I spent some time soloing the Colossus flagship, something I remember getting really scared to do even with a crew back in my early pirating days, so it's become sort of a hey look at how far I've come I can do this by myself no sweat hobby. Sad to have done my last one ever. I used to be really scared of the Stumps, too, so I stopped off at Outcast and took down some of those bad boys. I visited Tormenta, defeating all the enemies I once avoided like the plague. My last morning was like a big... day of reminiscing and doing things I once couldn't do as a baby pirate and reflecting on how far I'd come.As time neared its end, I realized I would regret spending the final moments by myself, so I went to Port Royal and lost myself amongst the crowd that had gathered. I thought the fireworks were a nice - but heartbreaking - touch for closing time. Can't imagine I was the only one who cried at that.

You were not the only one who cried! That was a poignant finish. Though I did love that they threw in one last invasion at the supposed closing time. I was surprised that the game's end upset me so much. I have played off and on for years. I'd take a month or so off and jump back in and start a new pirate. I loved the humor of the game and thought all the quests were great. I sent Disney an email telling them how I felt. Whether it helped or not, it made me feel better! |

Well, since I spent so many long hours since 2008 in Abassa, I decided to remain there and see if I would recognize anyone. I hadn't played the game in a year or two prior to hearing about its closing, and because my account was banned I had to make a new one. I did see a few people I knew, but not any of my best friends which saddened me.
However there was quite the party going on in Abassa. Many people were dancing around the GM Bonnie that was standing on the dock. She was wishing everyone farewell. The chat was going crazy, and there were lots of spammers, but it reminded me of the good old Abassa days when it was ALWAYS full. I will miss you POTCO, and all of the wonderful friends and memories I made. -Maggie Truehound
