Thumbs up Complete Guide To Dodging Cannon Fire

Have u ever wondered how to dodge cannons fire in your ship? Even if you do the blocade menuever a ship randomly spawns near you and starts firing? That will make everyone mad when you have some royal chests. Well here is the complete guide.

Sloop: Cannon fire dodging is very easy in any type of sloop, they have narrow short bodies and are fast and menueverable. First if the ship firing at you is in front of you try to turn so that your back or your front is aimed directly at it. This will give them less space to aim correctly. Second if the ship is right beside you floor it! Use ramming speed or full sail to get out of there quick. Third if you are facing a frigate with front cannons do an S menuever while backing up. Do full reverse and go side to side. Almost no cannon fire will hit you.

Galleon: Any type of galleon is very hard to dodge in even when you have ramming speed. First if the ship is in front of you and firing aim your front or back to them and do full reverse. NEVER TURN YOUR SIDE TO THEM! YOUR SHIP IS TOO EASY TO HIT! Second if the ship is right beside you there is not much you can do. I would either use ramming speed, do full reverse, but the best way to do it is do hard starbord or port rudder and use full sail and circle around it. Third if you are facing a frigate backing up wont do you much good. Have your cannoniers go in the back cannon(or side if you have light galleon) turn with your side facing them and use ramming speed.

Frigate: Frigates are hard to dodge in but not as hard as galleons. If the ship is in front of you and shooting back up and let your bow cannons get it. A "S" turn would help you dodge about anything. If the ship is beside you do full reverse and hard port or starbord rudder(Depending on which side the enemy is) to get behind them then go forward while following the enemy as your bow cannons bring it down. Third if you are surronded with 3 or 4 ships there is a menuever that frigates are very good at. Turn to the biggest opening have your back and side canons ready go forward dont use full sail or ramming speed use come about turn port and starbord in 1 second intervals. Then use full sail or ramming speed. This should dodge 80% of the cannon fire.

Sloop: Following instructions 80% dodging chance off all cannon fire

Galleon: Following instructions 60% chance of dodging all cannnon fire

Frigate: 70% chance of dodging all cannon fire

My ship is war sloop and I can take on a dreadnaught spawning right next to me kill it and still have about 5/6 of my health left

THX! Sorry if its too long

Nice guide! I just have one tip: When you hear, or see enemy ships firing when you are moving, just stop. They will be aiming ahead of you, so it you stop dead it should be 99.9% missing you. If you are sitting still, just "floor it" as stated above. But everything above works great!

M'eh...not bad advice...was hoping for something a little more tricky. These all seem like standard procedures. And as noted in the second post....just plain stopping works amazingly.

Decent advice here. When I'm battling a revenant or storm reaper, I always prefered to get in front and when it gets too close, switch sides, (mostly with frigates). It usually results in little to no damage.

also there is another way to evade cannon fire while doing brodsides and having you bow cannons shoot them. When you have a cannon tag a ship do full reverse and swerve from side to side while shooting your brodsides

Should make some videos and post them to youtube, I have managed a many flawless runs without taking a hit, it's good to just watch how other good captains play.

I always put my ship in reverse so their cannons always predict my movements and attempt to land where I'll be behind myself in 5 seconds. When they fire and attempt to hit behind me, I press forward and my chances to dodge cannon fire go from 80%, 70% and 60% to 100%.

Awesome though.

/me uses the S trick.

I find that zigzagging helps. Everytime I sail, I suffer no damage this way. When they fire the cannons, I just go the other direction so the cannons hit the water. By the time they shoot at you again, you've already zigzagged to the other direction.

It really helps going to Cuba. For some reason it's more heavily guarded for me.

Excellent advice here. Its all about the timing you know, those of us who have sailed a good bit know when to expect incoming fire. Im more sporadic in my movements, utilizing any tool available to immediatly change direction as soon as I hear the cannons fire. Sloops are fun!!

Oh!, Ever notice the Ships radar signature pauses briefly right before they fire?
