Pointless Guilds
What is the point of guilds? What are they supposed to do for you?
I joined a guild, and now no one is ever online from that guild, or else they don't answer my guild-specific messages. No one tries to communicate with me; there is no benefit to being in the guild that I can see. How do I get out of a guild? How do I join a guild without being invited? Crimson Rose |

A guild should be a place to meet new pirates, have fun in guild based events (looting, cannon defense, PVP, etc.), help others and receive help in exchange. There are guilds that are very active and some not so active. Ultimately you need to be in a guild that best fits your liking. You can leave a guild by clicking on guild options on your friend list. It's best to shop around and ask questions before joining a guild. The worst that can happen is you don't like it and move on. Functional guilds are a matter of perspective. Some do not like large guilds and some do not like small guilds. They very much serve a purpose unless your pirate is a loner. You must be invited to a guild via direct invite or a guild code. You cannot just join a guild by choice.

Unless of course, that guild is yours.

Crimson, I must also add that a guild won't always be full, no mater what guild it is. As aka has stated, it all is about what sort of guild you would like. And unfortunately, it seems you may have joined one of those guilds that is just a title. I have seen them before. There are many, and not many people get on. Its ok for some, but not for the rest. Anyways, your best shot would be to ask questions before joining. That really really helps. Usually if you just get sent a guild request, chances are it might not work out. So in fact ask questions, and look around. Sooner or later you will have to find your guild

Okay, thanks for your input.
I am looking for a guild that might be willing to crew together and share adventures. I have several friends, but only a couple of them seem to be inclined that way, and they are really low level. One of them keeps teleporting to join me when I'm in a nasty grotto and she's only 7th level. Then she goes charging in to fight the worst monster. So I end up convincing her to go on one of her quests, and I tag along and help, usually by doing some healing. It's nice to help, it's nice to work together, but I don't get much out of it. At least I get to play with my dolls. So anyone with an active guild out there, we can make an appointment or whatever and you can invite me. Crimson Rose |

Crimson,
Try some other guilds - some of the major guilds you see here on POF and other fan sites. Those guilds will usually be active, have planned activities for the guild, and strong leadership. And because they are have a presence on the forum, ( and many of these guilds have their own guild web sites too ) you can communicate with the GM via private message in case you have an issue and he/she is not online at the time. Just keep poking around - you will find the right guild for you and then you will be thinking that being in a guild is the best thing you have ever done!! To address your question about leaving a guild, just press the letter F to bring up your friends list. At the bottom of that box is a tab that says GUILD. Click on that GUILD tab, then click GUILD OPTIONS, then click LEAVE GUILD. I hope that helps. |

Every guild has it's own purpose. Whether to lead the in-game leaderboards, help it's members level or collect new items, or simply act as a medium for whether others can meet and hang out, every guild in the Caribbean is different from it's companions in some shape or form. Just because the guild you are in does not fit you well does not mean that guilds have no purpose, it just means the guild you are in has no purpose to you.
Before going on a guild hunt, consider asking yourself just a few questions: how big do you want the guild you are in to be, and how active? How personally connected do you want to be with your guild mates? What do you want the focus of your guild to be? So many questions, but in the long run answering all of these for yourself before searching for your new home will make things a lot easier for you. The great thing about these forums is that they provide a general way for pirates to showcase what their guilds are all about. After you get an idea of what you want out of a guild, cruise through the threads and subforums in the Guilds and Clans section here on POF to see which guilds may suit you. If you find one that fancies your eye, private message the original poster of the guild's information, or any one of it's Officers, and I'm sure they will be more than glad to help walk you through how to join their guild, and what to expect. Happy pirating!
