What happened to the beta of SvS island land battling?

Do you guys remember the update where 2 people would crew up on their team choice of Spain or French, and then the crew gave them either a French "flag" coin in their health bar slot or Spain "flag" coin in their health bar frame?

It was like free PvP land in beta, but it was actually working really well! It spawned us correctly back on the island to keep going.

I wish someone would have recorded that event and posted it here...

Those were the good days...... very fun, worth buying unlimited for.

That was a glitch on the live servers, and was not intentional. It was a glitch and thusly had to be removed for the sake of the game - should they choose to add it as an actual option for land combat, I would be glad to see that.

It was around the time before tonic revive function came to the game... I think.

It allowed players to crew up on the islands and battle each other if they were on different teams, French or Spain.

Scenerio:

Player A and their fellow pirates decide to join the brawl occuring on the French SvS island. They decide they want to help out the other pirates on team Spain.

Player A and his team all teleport to the Spain SvS island. Player A then crews all his friends that want to be on team Spain. Once Player A crews all his friends, they are now given the Spain "flag" coin in their health bar frame. They are now on Team Spain wherever they go (Main islands, PvP, on a ship, etc.).

Player A and his team teleport back to the French SvS island and join the massive brawl that a few players had started days ago and spread the method of achieving this "team battle" outside of PvE. They can fight all players who crewed on the French SvS island, because they were instantly given the French "flag" coin in their health bar frame.

In the end, it was a very popular event that kept the French island on the top 2 servers full and a temporary hang out spot formed there... until Disney "fixed" it (really BROKE it and took away the fun).


Oh, how I miss those days... that was a great PvP beta field they had in the game... sigh.

I'd be happy to see that option for land combat to exist in POTCO. It gives me a good reason to pay for unlimited, knowing there will ALWAYS be someone to battle, unlike the Lookout system via Treasure Chest, where I RARELY find any Team PvP matches.

I want it back, also with the ability to see others on a ship in PvP, because it would be AWESOME to shoot the cannoneers on those pesky light sloops that SPAM the fury...

Grape shot is useless without being able to see their crew.

However, impact on the other team is still existance. There is just no way of telling if it worked or not, by looking above their pirate heads for the "dizzy" animation from toontown remade to potco.

Grape is the 4th strongest ammo type, and it can even be used by basic access members!!! I don't see what you mean... Useless? It's a miniature broadside in itself... Each cannonball that makes impact does the equivalent damage to a Round shot of the same skill level, and it shoots up to 25 at a time..... That adds up when you have a full crew using it during an open fire buff, plus a rank 5 broadside makes a pretty unstoppable ship...

I remember this glitch... How I tried to sail in SVS but then someone in a crew on the other side would come aboard my ship and very rudely attack me while I was trying to sail...

Have they changed grape? Last time I used grape it messed up the crew and did no damage to the ship or very little. You would run up on the other ship grape the tar out of them while another cannon furied them and they couldn't do much about it but yes it went away when they made it so you couldn't see the other players so became useless. If they have changed it to do damage to the ship as you say I may have to retrain as I haven't decided to pay to play again yet.

1. Grape is F2P.
2. It has been changed for over a year.
3. All it does is shoot about 25 normal cannon balls at once that spread out a deal a whopping amount of Damage....

It's not entirely F2P.

I sort of remember it... I think. i didn't know what was happening, as i was new to the game. I didn't understand guilds OR SvS. But i remember battling other pirates NOT in PvP. I do remember when the tonic revive came in.

I think they removed it after my friend crashed a GM using this feature...
