Old Pirate seeks new Adventure

Well Hello POTCO forums, I have been away a great while, it seems I had to fight in some GUild Wars and take a trip to Oblivion and help some Black Ops chaps do some pillaging of a place called Nuketown. Yes I had grown weary of paying the docking fee of my great ship in the Caribbean waters and had gone to seek fun elsewhere. I had long ago finished my quests here and SvS while still fun, after a great amount of time had lost some of its glory. I do find myself missing all the Pirates I had sailed with for so long and must say true that the other places are not as friendly and I would love to gun on a war sloop. The problem being that I hate to dust off the old Sea Wolf and blade without some new adventures to embark on. So tell me Forum has the Great Mouse given us much new since I left for colder seas a year ago?

New adventures or story?

No.

Quoted because the truth.

New content in general?

Only Ship Customization to design the color of your hull, masts, emblem designs, ship perks (+1/2 to certain skills, Cargo % increases with specific ship sets, etc.), forgotten PvE ship upgrades (Now, we're more OP), and.... a "materials " collection system (Good for Blacksmith crafting in the future for new weapons).

Worth coming back and paying for?

Well, I already started my break away from the game so that's why I find it interesting to respond to this.

To begin, Disney has not patched the Live game more than 2 months+ as of today. They added the events for the holidays, but in turn, they also broke more code references that makes the game crash more than usual.

Crash points include:

- Populated servers
- Login loading screen
- Teleporting to areas
- Launching your ship
- When a high ping spike occurs

Sure, there's tons more places where this happens but you get the idea.

Second, there's nothing worth-while in the game to say "I must pay unlimited right now!". Lacking of bug fix support, Exhausted content and glitch/exploiters are a problem in the game. If you're going to come back to the game, I recommend not buying unlimited until the next update, but even that will be completely boring after the first week because they don't let you choose cannon placement, wheel placement, accessories, etc.

Like, this is just a very, very basic system of customization. A waste of time if you hate sailing.

Something to consider if you love designing your ship, sail, Ship PvP, etc.

I don't see how this is worth buying unlimited UNLESS the developers patch up the exploits abused in PvP. Even so, I'd delay in buying it until the next quest line or something.

Unlimited Access will be worth-while again when a new, longer story chapter has been released to the game (If the game lasts that long, that is).

Don't get me wrong, but, lately they haven't been "at the top of their game" when it comes to the Live game server.

It could be because they're so focused on getting the test update ready, but that, really should be no excuse for Disney NOT to hire extra workers to bring the servers down and delete the backlog of packet data - action or just chat logging - as it is just keeping the ping times towards the West Coast of the U.S. above 1000ms+ latency in some "Ideal" labeled servers and always in "Full" labeled servers.

Keep your expectations low if you want to be surprised.

First off, welcome back! Even though some people might say that there hasn't been much released, -points to the posts above- there has actually been a bunch of content that already made its way into the Caribbean, and content that will soon follow.

Last year:

Not sure if you left when the inventory expansion happened, with new clothes, and loot.

3 new mini-games... Fishing, Potions, Cannon Defense

Raven's Cove Story Quest, along with 5 Legendary Cursed Blades, and over 30 Cursed Blades

Peddlers (they carry some nice and expensive outfits)!

This year:

The Queen Anne's Revenge set sail for you to sink (it mysteriously disappeared though, hopefully it will return in the future...).

You can now level up PvP or SvS infamy (you get points for defeating other ships/pirates). You can also get cool infamy rewards, such as tattoos, hats, and coats.

Dare to become a Scoundrel of the Seas? 4 new Scoundrel ranks while at Sea, you increase this rank by sinking ships, and once you hit the 3rd rank, Navy Warships will chase you, and at the 4th rank, all ports will close except one!

A future update coming soon is Ship Customization, which was explained earlier.

IMO, I'd say this game has gotten way more exciting, and I'd recommend you try it with Unlimited Access again!

I agree with Shark here... if you haven't been here since before Raven's Cove, or even the inventory update... you'll have A LOT to catch up on. I suggest checking out some of the updates also available for basics, then deciding from there. IMO... you should get Unlimited again.

Thanks all for the informative replies, I have been playing for a long time and love the game. I am sad to hear they haven't produced another story line yet, I will get on and see if the old Guild is still going, chat with any friends that may be online, but playing with basic weps and no fury for SvS is hard to do for a Pirate. I will have to really think about paying to play as it would appear I will be back to little or nothing to do quickly and the mouses chests have filled with my gold with little return. Great game, geat community I hope Disney will do something to keep the Caribbean filled with the sound of cannon fire for awhile longer. If you see me running to get ammo so I can rain fury onto somebody in SvS say hey. Thanks again forum.

Yes, the IDEA of the game is great and the community ON THE FANSITE is a lot more friendly than in the actual game.

Great game, however, the owners of the project... lets not go there.

Be nice if DI took over the project from DMG.

Well, there's the Raven's Cove quest, can't remember if it was out a year ago tho. If you want, I am an Officer in Emerald Regiment- we have loads of fun. Though not as much recently, we have many SvS and PvP battles together, along with raids. Check out our sub-forum in the 'Guilds and Clans' section. After you check out the rules, post on the Recruitment thread or PM me.
