I would jump if I could, but my dagger is only level ten, and I have a broadsword so I just stick to regular PvP, atleast for now

I'm starting out as a jumper, and I'm getting quite good at it. It doesn't make me one of those PvP obsessed jerks that like to glitch a lot, because if someone asks me to not jump, I won't jump. I use a broadsword when I jump, because it's far easier than cutlass, and who says that I'm not a real jumper if I use a broadsword?
Awesome guide, mate, but maybe you should post the jumping technique? I turn auto run on and use the mouse to fight and direct Misty the right way. Kind of hard to control, but I'm getting used to it. Quote:
![]() I understand where you're coming from. Most jumpers I've met are quite rude, and don't like me using weapons that will hit them. :P Isn't that what PvP's all about? Most jumpers, especially Abassa Tortugans, are like that. But some jumpers are alright. As I stated above, if the opponent prefers that I don't jump, I won't jump. They've just got to make it clear first. And if a level 20 starts fighting a level 50, I think their only hope is to jump. ![]() My three favourite weapons in PvP are broadsword, gun and doll. Dagger coming close behind. I don't use doll too much, because usually someone has a problem with it. And that's okay with me. I don't like all the nonsense about 'not being a real jumper if you use broadsword'. Broadsword is the toughest sword in the game, and I don't see why using it would make me a fake jumper. When I used to PvP randomly with jumpers, when I used a broadsword = "broadsword noob". When I used a doll = "doll noob". I think they can establish the rules better than using a four letter insult... I originally saw jumping as a form of cheating, like Stealth said. But there are so many jumpers about these days that I feel that I need to jump in order to have a chance against them. I was defeated by a level 20-something jumper when I was level 46! AND he was basic. I started training myself as a jumper, on Darkhart, (:P) and now I can fight the old fashioned way, AND the jumping way. I think the jump button should be removed from PvP, or you'll only be able to walk in PvP, as somebody suggested once. It would encourage pirates to get down and dirty with the opponent, as real pirates do. ![]() Lastly, I don't think PvP is that important, so I'll let the jumpers do what they want, and everyone is entitled to their opinions. I'm simply letting my opinion out here, like many of you have already done. Except mine is in speech form. ![]() My message in short: Do what ye like! They're your weapons, and if the opponent has failed to establish the rules beforehand, that's their mistake. Can't blame someone for wanting to win.

I hate Jumping.
Last night I went on Lookout, and I PvP'd the first non-Jumper in a month. Not including PvP's with friends of course. But Dark Pixie is right, if you are PvPing against someone a much higher level then you, and Jumping is the only way to somewhat even the odds, then I guess it is OK. /growl |

Hello. I'm a jumper, and I am fairly experienced at it. I have been jumping/pvping for 3 years.
One of the things I mostly hate in this game, is when people trash talk about us jumpers for having "rules" or "jumping" in PvP. Quote:
Jumper Rules : Cutlass and Dagger only ~No Dagger Combos ~No Brawl ~No special weapon abilities (like freeze on silver freeze) ~No asp Why don't we use broadsword? You can RANDOMLY swing with it and hit your opponent, and it'll stun him and he can't move. The main idea in Jumpers PvP is stunning your opponent with a cutlass combo so he slows down, and it'll be easier to hit him and he will go off-aim. We don't like to PvP someone that just spams three-barrel gun or someone who uses a doll and runs around in circles. That is so boring, having rules makes it harder and funner for us. We also feel much more accomplished then normal PvPers. Quote:
Nacks thread was mainly to help people get the idea of what jumping really is, or help rookie jumpers. Instead, all I saw was people trash talking and insulting us, that hurts me. We aren't as bad as anyone thinks, just because one jumper can be rude doesn't make the rest like that. If anyone would like me to show them how to actually jump using jumper rules, just send me a PM on PoF and we can meet up somewhere ingame. I can show you strategies, tips, how to re-train your sword/dagger for jumping and other useful things. We don't want to get hated by the pirate community, we are trying to gain respect. People who are good at jumping are the best PvPer's in the game, and while some people take it too seriously, some jumpers will, "jump," just for the fun of PvP.
Although I used to hate it, I'm fine with jumping, and I have great pride in being a great PvPer. I'm a jumper myself. ^_^ Although I'm not a hardcore jumper like.... some people.... |

Why do you say that? Because majority of the pirates community doesn't "jump"?

Anyways, Nack, the guide is at a good starting point, but I think it needs to have more added to it. I think you should mention some more options with skills (my GM had the most awkward cutlass set, yet used to make the PvP leader board all the time in 2009 along with his first mate), as well as go in-depth as to why I would want a Nautilus Blade over other weapons (as well as mention other weapons anyway i.e.- the Dark Mutineer fairs quite well with its defensive qualities, and the Thunderspine's stats definitely out-class other weapons, etc.). I also think you should have a section on how to jump against a non-jumper. |

My skill points are:
Sword: 1 Hack 5 Slash 5 Cleave 5 Flourish 5 Thrust 2 Sweep (helps alot in teams, when your opponent is really low health to finish them off and if you can't hit your opponent you can use sweep so his health doesn't go back up) 3 Endurance (I have 3.1k health, I only have endurance for team pvps, it helps. I wouldn't recommend maxing it unless you have low skills/level) 5 Bladestorm My Dagger (not even 1 point in a dagger combo): 5 Viper Nest 5 Sidewinder 5 Adder 5 Blade Instinct 5 Finesse (cool down time) 4 Asp (to use against non-jumpers, or jumpers that cheat) really helps I have 2 strategies that I use in PvP, I use vipers with fast switch (that makes me skip and they can't hit me) after I use vipers, I use bladestorm with fast switch (they should be around near half health then, I'd take out my sword and start comboing until I killed them or until they had so little health sweep/vipers could kill them. My second strategy would be, start out with combos before you even get to the opponent (like hit them with flourish by the time you get to them, then jump sideways and hit them with thrust) then I'll bladestorm, use vipers skip and finish them off with combos. I use these strategies depending on who I'm fighting, I can tell how people PvP on the first kill, then I'd make up a strategy during that match or use my main ones. I use Nautilus Blade in PvP, it has a +2 Flourish boost and Critical Strike Rank 2. I also use my Nautilus wherever I go (like looting at darkhart, level at tormenta) even though I have the Barracuda broadsword which is much stronger then my Nautilus, I'm used to using cutlass because of PvP and it helps me get better. Its also funner to kill things when you're jumping with a cutlass imo. I also jump while looting/killing things, not just while playing PvP. One of the best jumper PvP swords are the Doom Rattler (it has a pain immunity, so you can't stun your opponent with combos and he can easily kill you if he has good aim) Thunderspine is also good, but I think Doom would be the best. |

PvP isn't my main focus in Pirates Online, so I'm bound to practice the 'jumping technique' less than those who enjoy PvP above everything else. Perhaps I might look into jumping a bit more after I'm mastered and want to start to level up my Infamy, but jumping really isn't the most interesting thing that I'll encounter in the game, in my opinion. I'd probably just fight on the ground. :P I don't really have the time to spend learning how to jump in PvP, so I might try it occasionally, but I'm certainly not as skilled as most players who actually call themselves jumpers are. There's no way I'd question a jumper's skill in the game, because jumping is no doubt the strongest, yet toughest to learn, form of PvP. It's just not my kind of thing, that's all. There are many different ways you can play this game. 'Tis fine to have a different style of gameplay to someone else - just the same as having different opinions. If we all had the same way of playing the game, this would be a pretty boring forum! :P |

Thanks for understanding. I have been jumping since I started playing Potco, I don't like looting, I don't like doing quests (2% on the black pearl and I'm a level 50) I have only done teleport quests, raven coves quest and some tattoo quests.
PvP infamy rank doesn't tell you a jumpers skill either, when I was rank 1 in PvP infamy after coming back from a 2 year game break, I tried jumping again after only so long on my new account and I beat a maxed war master 8-1 using jumper rules. Right now, I'm a war master, but that is only because I do like 10 jumper pvps a day, I also did a 5vs1 (they were level 40 and a 50) without jumper rules and I won 6-4 (they were healing each other and stuff so I just did as much damage I could on one and life drained off the others. |

Good guide, but for skills I would rather have a max endurance and as much skill points as you have left on the combo skills, if you were only a PvPer. Bladestorm takes a long time to execute.
I disagree. |

Well, bladestorm with fast switch = 1 second to do for me and it takes part of there health. I would only max endurance if your a low level or have low skills. Combos are a must though, sweep is really good too if you know how to use it.
