light sloops ganging on a crippled craft
 last 2 days i have been noticing light sloops hangin out waiting on the big craft to disable flag ships then swooping in to board on someone elses loot..... I know we are pirates but this is just bad sportsmanship. I ve even had some fire at my ship like it 's gonna deter me... I have a larger craft and after manuevering my target i can't even board. bless them if they kids but just eager to board , but they should be docked some loot. i did have fun chasing them around for a bit and blocking them but then I realized ... hey I'm an adult and not to carried away. Loot hard mates! |

Well, the only thing that we have always done is switch to a quieter server. That helps solve alot of the issues.

Whomever does the most damage to the flag ship gets boarding rights, so even if you're swarmed by "the fleas", they probably won't damage the flag enough to get the right to grapple it. If the little green circles pop up after you hit it, the ship is yours. I agree that it's truely annoying to try to take down a ship whilst the little guys are firing off cannons all over the place, but no other pirate can grapple "your" ship.
On a side, you can still get a stowaway during the process. If someone is close enough to your ship to click on your pirate, they can TP to you, and therefore be on your ship while you are grappeling the flag. Which means they can board that flag with you and loot your booty. According to the latest updates, this "feature" will be gone with soon. I hope so!

I was about to post the same thing as Sarah but she beat me to the punch. But I have seen it where I had the right to board and someone else did grapple the ship. I bet there is a bug that lets them. Maybe they can't see the circles but can still grapple if they hit the area. Might be worth testing. Only with a friend tho.

Had a stoaway jump on board today just as I was getting ready to board a Collossus. Being the kind hearted soul that I am I made sure he was aboard my ship before hitting the Board button. He didn't last long against 3 lvl 28 Officers.
That'll teach him. |

I originally called them vultures, changed it to leeches (most people use this name), and now call them seagulls. I cannot stop laughing when I think of seagulls sailing ships. For some reason I think it would be exactly like what you see. Loot Hard!

I came to the conclusion that they really don't know what they're doing, they just keep doing it because they see all the other people doing it. And if all these other people are doing it, then they have to be doing it for a reason...

I've always referred to them as 'Scavengers' - basically either a rep stealer on the water who jumps in to a fight, or one of those idiots who tries to steal the flag ships. The thing is, if they can't take down the flag on their own, most likely they won't survive a boarding, unless you're going after the lower level flags. Sometimes, if they steal, I almost don't mind when I get to see their little ship sink into the water. I feel contented knowing that they all died.
 Is that wrong of me? Or just...pirate-like?

all these replies are so entertaining to read it ALMOST makes me not so annoyed and delighted that we can allhave a big laugh about it... tonight late enough that they were most probably not small children i had a few jumpers --- i was going solo for my sails when they got on i just stopped sterring and told them if they were not on my crew i command you to jump ship --- bless there lil low lvl hearts They did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! except for one I took him to crabby land and told him just hang out i need some stuff.. needless to say a giant got him
