specialized pirates?
i was just wondering if anyone has tried to make a "specialized" pirate. i've seen others do similar things in other games; sometimes they call it being a "pure (name your skill)". i know from the Black Pearl quest that there are some things you have to do with a particular weapon, so you can't get around that and still complete the quest - and there's "the code" for guns. but what about these?

i was thinking it might be possible to do something weird like master fishing and potions to get started towards voodoo doll, and then try to master doll to reach level 30 and unlock staff. of course, once you'd master those, you'd probably want to (or need to) move on to something else to fully master the pirate. has anyone though of, or tried (or accomplished?!) anything like that?

I've seen lots of people try to specialise in one thing - I haven't done it myself, but I have seen many people who have, and succeeded.

I haven't tried focusing on one or two skills for a pirate, mostly because I just can't be bothered. :P I've seen lots of people who focus on one or two skills at a time, and I find them utterly fascinating. The level 20 I was talking about was my favourite captain, and I tried to sail with them as often as I could. ![]() If you want to see someone who focuses on dagger and sword, try Abassa Tortuga. The place is crawling with them. |

Cougar is my SVS Specialist - with maxed cannons and points configured to favor svs.
Kat Five is my treasure hunter.. with the famed Golden Charm and maxed treasure sense - I use her when the guild want to go sailing for plunder and gold. I have not decided Jag's fate or Fire Tigress.. But I do like the idea of specializing your pirates. I usually make that decision when they are close to mastering, and depending on the luck of their drops. |

I think you left out something....
Grenades. My third pirate has, Cannon, Sailing, Sword, gun, Dagger, and getting grenades. I'm gonna master Grenades first. Favorite weapon. |

Having eight master pirates, I have a few that fit ye Arch type mold. I have one that is the voodoo specialist. He has quite the collection of voodoo dolls. Other have blades, example two use primarily sabres. Two cutlasses. One is as ye described has a fine selection of blades.
All my pirates are sailors. Because this is my favorite game activity. It would be nice to have new skills thrown into the mix so ye could be more specialized. Ye can specialize as a master pirate, but at lower levels it would be very difficult for the reason ye stated. Who knows what the future holds for our game? This may come to be next year. |

Svsers = Master sailing/cannon or just sailing/cannon depends on what they do
Pvpers = Master sword/dagger or just sword For mains, they should level equally until they get 20, then master grenades and even everything else out. I'm a main so, and my other pirate is a pvper. |

I'm a very good jumper.
We want to make the pvp matches seem harder, rather based on aim and skill more (we only use cutlass with dagger) No broadswords/or any special weapon abilities such as Ice Freeze on Silver Freeze in example. Using a gun hitting 1000s just seems cheating in our view and no skill in our view, we aren't the type of people that would attune someone with a doll and run around in circles, or keep spamming a normal pistol. Simply, thats just our PvP rules. Jumpers rule at pvp, no doubt about it. Our Rules would be this: - Only cutlass and dagger (Why no broadsword you may ask?, because you don't need to know how to aim to use it, you can just swing randomly 10 feet away with it and it would hit, cutlass is based on aim) - No Asp on dagger, or throw dirt - No Brawl on weapon - No special attacks (or any cutlasses that have pain immunity so you can't get stunned) Yesterday, I fought a 2vs1, they were both NON-jumpers (A level 50 and 37 vs me) I'm level 45. Our rule was only cutlass and dagger. Starting score became 5-0-0 for me, then I got up to 6 kills and died. The level 37 started attuning me and using grave shackles because he was mad, and he healed the level 50. I used Vipers nest to get rid of his attunements and interrupt his gun he was using as well (so I followed my own rules but I still won, but now a Jumper vs a Jumper using other weapons is just cheating, and ungraceful). Ending Score was 11-2-1. I will show a picture of the match (I can take pics, do fast switching and concentrate all at once, just because I PvP a lot. Don't pay attention to my duelists rank, because I just started PvPing after a 2 year quit and I made a new account and still haven't lost my pvp/jumping touch. ![]() When I said "woiw" I mis-typed wow, because I was jumping at the time, they started cheating using guns and dolls. Even if I used my best gun, or a doll or something, I would still do better with swords and daggers because thats what I'm best at. What's Fast Switch? When you bladestorm and switch weapons quickly without waiting the time for bladestorm to do. Every second counts in a PvP match. What you do is just copy /afk and paste it ingame using the shortcut keys CTRL+V for paste soon as you bladestorm, and you'll have to do it fast or it won't work. My aim with bladestorm is very good, and I'd almost never miss a fast-switch unless I mis-clicked a button or something. Whenever I loot at Dark Hart, I'd only be using swords and daggers jumping around him with the fast-switch, not because of pvp rules, just because I love it and I'm a jumper. It feels nice, spamming blunder is boring and lame. My post wasn't just a explanation, but also a small guide. There will always be jumpers around, if you like it or not. Just don't make fun of us or insult us, only a jumper would understand what I'm trying to say. Last edited by Lilys; 10-15-2011 at 10:00 PM.. Reason: image size/unnecessary |

I know one person, my GM Blade who is doing that with a pirate right now.
On my secondary pirate (Capin Otter, PnC), i had a leftover Jack's Brew. I used it and got from lv 17- almost 21 notoriety and lv 20- almost 27 sword. So, I guess I'll master sword first, considering all my other weapons are below lv 10 :P . |
