Suggestion for Adult Servers- LISTEN UP DISNEY GUYS!!! (lol) - Pirates of the Caribbean Online Fansite & Forums

i really hope this gets the attention of the admins of the game..i've seen other suggestions made that are now part of the game..so here goes...

ok so i've tried to search thru the threads here and i've seen this mentioned on other unrelated threads but not seen anything that deals with this directly. so i figured i'd give it it's own thread (if that's ok...lol.)

I've noticed there seems to be quite a few people besides myself who all feel the same way. that it'd be nice if they made 18+ ONLY servers with a few less restrictions. like a little less prone to ban someone for giving their age, state they live in, an email address, that sort of thing. someplace we can actually play with people and KNOW for certain they're OUR age and have a conversation like adults without fear of being banned. we have to give our ages when we set up our accounts anyway. if people didn't want to be exposed to what was said on the adults only servers they could go to the regular "Pirates-Lite" and play the "G-rated" version. i mean we need a "PG" kind of thing...well you know what i'm getting at! hee hee hee...

like i said on another thread..i'll sign a waiver if i have to stating i'm playing at my own risk on a more open game.

i just think it's pretty crappy that they snoop through a private conversation between two people (i mean HELLOOOO what is the "whisper" feature for anyway???) doesn't whispering imply confidentiality? there's only supposed to be 2 people reading it! ...uh, the only people who are gonna be offended in a private convo are the people involved...right? (and i know i definately would not hesitate to report someone after asking them nicely to stop being a virtual jack-*****...) if it's "privately" said why do they flip out and say that something's "too personal"? then leave it to the people involved to take it upon themselves to report it!!

so i say make some adult servers then. problem solved.

i've said it before..the game already promotes gambling, drinking, killing/torture of lliving...and NOT so living (lol), talking to prostitutes, voodoo magic, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...lol. i think it's being a bit hypocritical that we can't give out a yahoo id without being chastized and made to feel like a naughty 3rd grader being sent to time-out. my best friend of 17 years and i like to strategize but have to do it in yahoo half the time so we don't get banned.

that's another thing. what if it was someone you knew PERSONALLY -like as in the flesh so to speak. you're gonna get banned for telling your relative or best friend something they deem inappropriate???? that's just DUMB. There should be an "appeal" process to allow you the opportunity to plead or explain your actions or words. like letting them follow up and ask the other person involved what's going on maybe before they just ban you. can't they write and tell you that you're in risk of suspension because you said this or that and they're investigating it before final judgement is handed out. lol. i know it sounds a little dramatic, but it seems to be a bit more of a fair way to deal with it.

that's why i'm suggesting this here on it's own thread. anyone who feels the same way? i say let's all write to the Pirate People and see if we can maybe persuade them! heeheehee... "VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!!" <-hahahahaha....

I completely agree 100%! I was only banned once for giving my friend that lives down the street my new email address...wait this is what I said...First and last name at so and so dot com....And it was through a whisper. She already knows my first and last name so I didn't give out that part, just what website it was on. It's ridiculous and there needs to be something done about it.

Im tired of goin to the hotbox for being an adult. I mean my niece says way worse things that me!!! And shes only 15! Oops, am I gonna get banned for that?

yeah there are so many stupid words that arent bad that dont allow you to type. and then you type a paragraph and it doesnt get accepted then you have to retype the whole thing. earlier it wouldnt let me type "drive"

lol...i've had that happen...write a long reply hen have to redo the whole thing...hee hee... and yeah i know...my neice is about to be 16...yeah...sometimes i'm like, OMG! hahaha...WOW!! some of the stuff kids were doing when she was in junior highschool even had me freakin out...i didn't really get "INTO" into boys untill i was 14! lol. but yet we have to watch our mouths over email???? or saying a few "choice words" you'd hear on any regular everyday television show??? wth? UGH!

I have heard the game is aimed at 13-year-olds, and their mouths are notoriously full of 4-letter words. I pick my daughter up at middle school every day, and you can tell when school's out. Soon as those doors open, all you hear is streams of profanity. So I guess what Disney is doing is expecting us ALL to be like that, and using that to justify all the restricted language.

Want to get around it? Just do what the 13-yr-olds do: respell everything. Get creative.

I agree as well. My whole guild is all adult and we can't have most conversations (even ones that contain no profanity etc) and alot of messages don't go through...

I mean hell, why can't we even say in guild chat what level we are without typing it out in words? Or how far from a level we are??? That's just ridiculous. Tonight I was playing with a friend in Kingshead jail, and she was 69 points from levelling her cutlass. Couldn't even type in "six nine" in GC, had to put it in local chat for it to work... A little backwards to me...

I'm sure this game has a rating like "E for Everyone" so shouldn't adults be included? I know there are alot of adult only guilds around as well. So adult only servers should be allowed as well. I know its aimed at kids, but a little freedom for being grown up would be nice...

I would love to see Adult only guilds....or something along the lines of allowing us to speak!!! Most of our guild has switched to voice chat. No restrictions there, but not everyone has access to it and were still workin out the bugs on it (*read* tryin to set up ventrillio server).

As for not being able to write out numbers, some might have a + sign in the chat box restricting them from saying numbers.

I'm pretty sure she doesn't have the + sign. But even if she did, I couldn't type it either, and I know I don't have it there...

I agree as well I think it's great my daughter has a safe place to pay and interact but l would like to interact with my online mates as well and be age appropriate, it is really a pain trying to communicate even the simplest things that sometimes have to do with game play.
If they could seperate are servers by age (when we register) or do a waiver, or something...... please maybe even private messaging for adults only, I like making new friends online and the filters sometimes make you seem REALLLY LAME due to those awkward moments of silence trying to decipher a way to chat through the filters.... and hey i have seen plenty of young'nz working around it in open chat using inappropriate language... I hope disney looks into this post i have also suggested it to the site directly

I agree. Just as in TT, have the chat limited on the younguns to standard chat, and no gettin around the chat filters. Parents when you sign your child up please turn on parental controls. Not only does this help us know who is a minor and what not, but it will also keep the "bad pirates" from being able to chat the wrong things to them and where they can hear them.

Minors MUST have the plus sign in the chat box to hear a convo. As it is right now its only for local and whispers, but it should be in crew as well.

What some of you are saying, like respelling things, was what turned another game I played into a nightmare. This is a E 10+ game, but do you hear Captain Jack swearing after school? Nope. I like this game and I just don't want it to go to waste because some people want to use language in the game just because their ship sunk...I mean, come on, your ship sinks and you swear, and then you go to jail and do it all over again? Why can't you just take the swearing part out and everyone can play? I just really like this game and I don't want my mom to look at it and say I can't play because a few people want to use language all the time...I have fun and I don't want to quit just yet.

Seriously. Potty-mouth can be checked at the load screen. It isn't needed in-game.

HOWEVER, I'd like to be able to have a conversation in the game, with an ADULT, about the freakin' game WITHOUT having to find some way of circumventing the capricious, and highly uneven chat filters. Literally, there are times I can NOT say something, five minutes later I can, five minutes after that, I can't again.

And this is in private chat to another adult player.

Literally, you can't express levels in the game. Or how many points you have left to a level.

You can't say "cell" even though you've got jails.

Heck, you can't even help people having problems with their computer sometimes! One of my guild officers was having lockups all the time on her system. Turned out to be a Vista machine with only 512MB of RAM on it.

Couldn't ask her to reboot. Couldn't say "Windows".

And, as has been noted before. This lovely chat filter prevents guilds from telling each other about their guild website/forums. In order to get my officer the URL for ours, I had to go through fairly amazing contortions, since after a while you couldn't say DOT.

Anyhoo, she's fixed now, recommended a 2GB RAM upgrade and that cleaned her problems up (Vista+Insufficient RAM+Memory Leaks Out The Ying Yang=bad Pirates Experience) and she claims that her machine is like a different beast now.

I'm not saying that Disney needs to drop and spread for the pervs or anything to improve the game. Just recognize that there are a significant number of adult players and conversations more sophisticated than "Gonna smoosh a skeleton" are going to happen.

not all of want to use foul language when talking to other adults. Please don't generalize that that is the motive , I could not even type the word EAST which is a navigational term, i could not type the word commerce or Harley as in bikes or tap as in water for petes sake i tryed to address someone by thier Disney pirate name and it wouldn't allow Lighten up not all adults are foul mouthed spazoids

I agree with Wolfson and DarkScarlett. Swearing has NOTHING to do with it. I don't want to swear in the game. I just want to be able to get one sentence across. I've had trouble recently trying to say "paranoid" and "got laid off", as in at work. Maybe paranoid was unnecessary, but we're making new friends in this game, and friends like to know what's going on with other friends' lives. I could have used a little sympathy when I got laid off, and it would have helped my friends understand why I've changed the hours I usually play pirates.
