Do the Leaderboards Matter to You?

A few years ago, the Leaderboards always seemed to be a pretty big deal in game. Most people were usually caught up in who passed who, who killed how many enemies, and so forth. And noticing there isn't as much of a buzz over the boards as there used to be, one must ask, do the Leaderboards still matter?

After countless breaks and unpredictability in the numbers, many pirates hung up their cutlasses and staffs for the moment and took a break from ranking. And now that it appears they are functional once more, we are left to speculate it the "Boards Buzz" will return once again.

On top of this, there is always a debate between people as to whether statistics on the boards actually lie in a guild's success. Whether you may or may not believe being on the boards makes a guild "stronger" or "better" than another, it doesn't so much rely on the talk as it does in the proof.

So, I ask you all, do the leaderboards matter to you?

NOTE: Please do not turn this in to a personal debate over specific guilds. This is meant to be taken as a survey, NOT as something to spark a "Whose Better" debate.

Only time I was ever interested in the boards was when I hit level 48 and was listed there. I voted for option 3.

I don't truly care for the leaderboards. Never did. If I were to ever rank, I would only do Ships Sunk.

To me, they don't matter as much as they used to since the boards aren't too up-to-date (other than levels and appearance). They still show Jason in the guild Blades Eclipse, and not Shadow Sorcerors,... as well as my new Pirates not being there and my old ones still being there... O_O The levels are up-to-date, same as what my pirate looks like, but there isn't any way I can compare myself to the friends I currently have, and the guild I am currently in... therefore making them useless to me. Did that make any sense?

I use them for some guild events but I am not a die hard ranker...

I decided it's not in my best interest to waste hours of my life racking up meaningless stats that do nothing for you in the real world. Whenever I apply for a job one day...I certainly am not going to put my rank in enemies defeated on my resume But hey if people enjoy wasting hours of their life away...go at it!! It's a game, for fun and friendship...not a substitute for real life.

I mean, I'm just kinda neutral about them. If I hear or see that I'm on them then I'm like 'Oh, cool'. But otherwise, not really.

I don't care at all about the leaderboards. It's like, "Oh lookie! My name is on the potco website!" I just thought it was cool when i was 1st for lvl 50, pirate lvl.

Thats the directory glitch. The leaderboards update every day according to what the Directory says. Its two different programs but only one is functioning right.

They do update for the most part. Although they occasionally will have a week or so where they don't update sometimes or where they glitch up in counting things.

I'll be honest, I don't really care about them. I know that I've never been on them for anything but Notoriety. As for Shadow Sorcerors, as a whole we really don't care too much. If we get on them we give each other a congrats and are happy. Its fun to see ourselves on the boards, but we don't make it a crazy priority. If we aren't on them, whatever, there are other things to prioritize, and we really don't mind. Perhaps one could argue that checking leaderboards can show a good list of active guilds, but there are loads of good ones that don't make it on, so it doesn't give a complete list. Overall, I think the leaderboards are a great thing. Its fun to check them out and see how good you can do, but I try not to make it everything to me. There are more important things.

I feel the same way, I don't make it a goal for myself or the guild
But if the we happen to rate somewhere on the boards, it makes me proud
Going out a playing, doing our usual things & to be rewarded by being listed in the top 100
shows our fortitude & dedication to the game & to our guild

It's the sprinkles on top xD
