Test Release Notes - June 20, 2011

• Pirates can dare to become a "Scoundrel of the Seas" now on the Test Servers. Set sail, plunder all you can from enemy ships and try to unlock all the Scoundrel levels.
• Enemy ship difficulty will increase based on the amount of plunder in your ship's hull.
• Added four Scoundrel levels of difficulty, each with its own jolly roger icon on the ship HUD (top-left while sailing).
• Optimized frame rate for flagship boarding.
• Fixed a bug where teleporting off a ship causes other Pirates to exit the Ship Repair mini-game.
• Fixed a bug where new Pirates could become stranded on Kingshead before receiving a ship.

Wow - this is an intense thing. It's like SvS against NPCs.

The minute you begin firing on an NPC ship the game begins to talk to you, as if it's a crew member alerting you that you're attracting notice, but also warning you if you're in danger.

What seems to trigger the tough fights is having a full cargo. A "Hunter" ship with red sails comes after you. It's definitely an NPC ship, and they're insanely fast.

In my very limited experience tonight I didn't see any "Hunter" ships go after anything but ships of the War class.

I sailed on a War Frigate and we had several Hunters chase us, including a War Galleon named Vengeance that must have had a top speed, without Full Speed, of 16-18 knots, minimum. I thought we'd left it in our wake and then it was literally on our six. I don't SvS, and I get very overwhelmed in those situations, but I can tell you one of the Hunters that came after us was a level 51. I think that was a War Sloop.

I didn't get any screenies because it was too fast paced and dangerous. We did make PDF intact, though.

Sailing on my Galleon (not War class), I got the message that there were ships closing in, but they seemed to only be regular NPCs schooling towards me.

For those solo sailors who are working on ship quests, my advice is either be prepared to defend your cargo, or port before you're fully cargoed.

The hunters came for me and a friend on a light sloop, once we got full royals. A level 59 war frigate. It is insane out on the seas now. The ship ranking crowed is gonna be extinct due to this update. No bugs found yet.

The verbal commentary is so fun!

Aye was fun on that Light Sloop. I had problems logging on before but it worked fine after a few hours.. Agrees completly wonderful update!

I think my favourite part was the voice, instead of just words, there's actually some piraty voice.

WOOT! No bugs so far? Great. Hopefully it will be on Live soon. This will make sailing much more fun, especially as a guild. I've always liked the "Survival of the Fittest" idea.

Aye, me to. Mainly because of all the public ships with failed captains. I hate it when you go on a public ship, and you get a captain who

B: Can't sail for his life

Apparently, as you get fame, even SOTLs come after you.. O_O

Did they change hunter to warship?

Went onto test to fight some hunters.
After you sink about a dozen hunters, the warships start to come.
Hunters = Was Sloop, Galleon and sometime Friagte lv 45-50
Warship = War fragate, SOTL lv 50-60

They come about every minute or so, so we often get surriunded by 2 at a time.
SOTL is crazy hard...

No, but when it's Navy ships, it says Warship. Non-navy ships say Hunter.
