Trouble with Barbossa - Pirates of the Caribbean Online Fansite & Forums

Don't laugh at my noobness, please. I don't care about these forums other than to get help so if my sig isn't as cool as yours, please forgive me for my lack of internet savvy.

I'm only level 2 and I'm on the Barbossa quest; whenever I sail to Devil's Anvil to get the pistol (which I got after the first attempt; I have it in my arsenal before I even set sail in Port Royal) and I go inside to practice on the monkey, I can't leave. Barbossa ceases to talk to me and when I try to leave, my pirate either starts floating in a myriad of vague blackness that reflects the sky (with no distinguishable beach) or runs on it for miles and miles and miles. No ocean, no sand, no nothing. I've restarted the game countless times and the same stuff has always happened. Is this normal? Is there something I have to do, or is this a legitimate bug?

Edit: Okay, it's not that hard to give a simple 'sorry, I can't help you' or a 'what make is your computer?' I'm flattered you asked--I have a MacBook OSX, I think. The game downloaded just fine and there's a bit of lag but other than that, everything's good. Seriously. I found out from somebody else that he's supposed to start telling you about the pirate code. How the hell do I get him to start? Anyone, please?

Sounds like you've already received your pistol from Barbossa? Do you still have the quest in your journal or something? If you do, your pirate might be bugged. You can either start a new pirate, and see if the same thing happens, or talk to live support.

Is the monkey's health supposed to go all the way down on the first try? Or does it stay low because it's undead? Barbossa still isn't talking, even with my new pirate.

The monkeys health (50/50) only goes down low (10/50) because its undead.At least i think its undead.

Not sure, I think each time I only hit it a few times then put the pistol away. I don't remember ever seeing the monkey with a health bar?

Barbossa won't talk until you put your pistol away.

ok for one thing THE MONKEY CANNOT DIE no matter if u have maxed flaming skull on your staff and ur staff is mastered and u hit it it wont die no matter what 2nd of all i recently created a new pirate and if i remember correctly as soon as you hit the monkey barbossa talks to u saying good or something liek that
