Does Disney put effort into the game?

What do you think? are they crazy lazy, just really bad at managing POTCO, or something else? i just sent they an e-mail to step it up unless they want tons of player leaving the game.

Truthfully games like WoW, Minecraft, POTBS, LOTRO, and many many others are WAy better than POTCO

Uhh, wait a minute. I don't see the "I think that they are doing a pretty good job with what they have." option. Are you implying that everyone would think they are lazy or bad? If so, then I would like you to look at what we have. Sure, we don't have everything, but I think for what little money they are given, they are doing quite well. Sure, we don't have The Kraken, but we have hundreds of weapons, clothing items, socialization, and tons more! They are doing a pretty good job if you ask me. I am quite happy.

As for the email you sent them, that's pretty mean. Put yourself in your position, with thousands of players yelling at you to do ten billion things at one time. Its not easy, so don't make it harder on them. And to clarify, it is not DISNEY. Maybe we should stop saying that, because I will admit that even I say it, but Disney has nothing to do with what they are doing. Disney just owns them and gives them (very little) money to work with.

I for one, vote none of the above.

IMO, they are NOT lazy. There have been polls and debates about this time after time. Disney, as big of a company as they are, do NOT want to lose fans of any type. It's harder to make a game then you think, and I've had to say this time over time again. If I gave you an average group of developers, maybe 20 or so, I'd like to see you make a game as vast as potco in 4 years. No one seems to understand this these days, and people are making a big deal out of it. People should stop complaining and let them do their thing. If you don't want to wait, then you can go play another game. That's fine with me.

Sheesh, some people that are complaining need to have heard what it was like back in '07 or '08. There were no weapons other than the ones you got from questing! No Peddlers.... no Raven's Cove, no fishing, no CD, no potions. When you master, you can still occupy yourself by trying to loot for weapons. Back then, once you mastered, that was it. They have done a terrific job adding SO many new stuff. And they are adding them at a fast pace, much faster than 2/3 years ago! Of course they put effort into the game!

Hmm... well now that i know what you guys are saying, maybe i should think a bit more about it...


Well i was thinking about ravens cove when i sent this. El patrons mine had about 15 ghosts, and one of the smallest cave on the Caribbean. The rage ghosts and the cave of lost souls were a good idea. The quest was awesome, but it was short, taking most pirates 2 hours to finish. i felt they could do a much better job, but they aren't.

But if they took longer, then they would have had more people yelling at them to release updates faster. They need to balance it out. They need to take long enough on updates so that they can be good and with as few bugs as possible, but they need to be released fast enough that they don't have players get upset and impatient. Its very hard for them.

They could do a lot better if all sides of The Disney Machine worked and put All their efforts. I voted NO, simply because they have no excuse for the poor growth of this game or others like VMK. They are a multi-million dollar company. Money makes Money. Invest more in these games and they will attract more money.

If you said a bad job, then think about this; could you make a MMORPG as successful and complicated as this? Sure they can be lazy because they have the ability to put stuff out but still, it takes great skill to do this.

Sure... If I had the money, the skill, and.... Wait! If I was in charge of this particular project and the resources that Disney has Then Yes! I could totally make a MMORPG at least 10x Better! This is Disney you are talking about. The quality of a Disney product is expected to be nothing but the best!

If I go to Disneyland or if I watch a Disney/Pixar movie I expect my experience to be amazing and without match. That's what makes Disney great. The should strive for perfection in every aspect. They cannot have excuses. Money cannot be an issue when you are Disney. They are not respecting the brands that they represent.

TSC, let me ask you something. Put yourself in the place of Disney. Now, you are a big company, and you like to make lots of money, correct? Now, you said that money makes money. That is true, and I will agree with that. But, how many things does Disney own, and how many things do they put money into? If I listed it all, the mods would probably accuse me of spamming the thread, as it would be a loooooong list. Out of those, POTCO is just one, little thing. One tiny drop in the ocean of their business. Now, if putting money into something really does get money out of it, then what are you going to put money into? You have only so much money, so you cant give each company a whole ton of money. So you decide to invest money into what you think will be successful. I don't know too much about what Disney does. Heck, I know almost nothing, but if I were to take a few guesses, I would say that they put most of their money into their parks, movies, and TV shows. Why? Because those are the best ways to make money! They give the most money back. Now, I love POTCO, but honestly, if I were them, I wouldn't put a massive amount of money into it, because I would guess that if you gave $1 billion to making a movie, it would make more money than giving $1 billion to POTCO.

I think I went off track a bit, but my point is that just because Disney has money, doesn't mean POTCO does. They don't have a massive amount of money to work with, and I think that they are doing a great job with what they have.

I agree with what most people are already saying THEY ARE DOING A PRETTY GOOD JOB with what they have, I mean they even update every holiday! And I for one dont think they are going to add the Kraken or Davy Jones. I think that if they do add a villian it would be Blackbeard! (It seems a little late to add Davy and his pet.)

That is part of my point DF. POTCO is a branch of the POTC Franchise. This is not Toontown or Penguins. This is Pirates of The Caribbean Online. This is an extension of the movies and the rides. This should be the Disney's Crown Jewel of their gaming division. Simply because of what it stands for.

What I am saying is that POTCO should get more money input to elevate this game to what it should be. Granted they are doing great with what they get (assuming that is a little slice of that cash flow that Disney has).

Disney is doing a bad job simply because they are failing to see what POTCO represents.

I do see what you are saying TSC. Honestly, there is no yes or no answer to this little debate. They could decide to put in money, and see if it really does make the game amazing. It may be a gamble, but perhaps it would pay off. Or they can put money into what they KNOW will make them money, and then of course get money from it. It all depends on their style of business running. Perhaps they do have the money to give to see if POTCO could be great, but they may decide not to risk losing it.

Back on track, it seems that we all do agree that with what they have, POTCO is doing a good job. Whether or not Disney will give them more money to make it even better, is completely different.
