Mobs - leveling spots- what are best?
Hello,
I have currently stopped my black pearl quest at level 22 (overall). In hopes it not too late to level my skills. I have been trying to level all of my skills. I have spent most of my time in the fort on port royal killing everything i can see. i get max 44 xp from lvl 18 grunts. So its slow and tedious the navy still does serious damage too with some of the higher levels. Its soo much easier with voo doo becasue i can avoid being hit so i go for high lvl hand to hand combat mobs. What i am looking for is ideas and mobs and places i can level my cutlass and dagger as well as pistol to from 5-15 then from 15-25. there has to be something better out there then these slow guards. Is there any mobs that are too slow or get stuck or do minimal dammage but have high levels? I have made 12,000 in gold and only gained 6 cutless levels (see how SLOW it is) Your help is much apprecaited. Thanks! Dead Bodies

lower level gypsies, or giant crabs, great for voodoo (attune 2 crabs = 200 rep etc) pistol (take aim, barely charged, plain lead, do as little damage as you can =100 rep etc)
(cutlass, basic hacking and using taunt and fight dirty alot, usually favorable rep) oh and you can hide in the water when youre health is low =) as i dislike the crab glitch, it just seems disonest to me, its like using the grunt in the navy fort (the one thats bugged and never attacks at the gallows) id avoid relying on your voodoo too much (not saying dont train it, but dont let it get so far ahead of your other skills that youre forced to use it simply because it works the best, ive seen far too many friends with level 20 dolls and level 5 cutlasses (maybe being a lil exaggerated but, you get the idea) |

The crab glitch appears to have been fixed. You can still hit it, run away till it disengages, and then go back to finish the job.

Wait a sec....
so lower damage and longer fights equal more rep points? |

Exactly. I know, it's pretty strange. For Instance, if you're working your voodoo doll, and you just use "poke" a million times (the lowest skill), you get more rep from defeating the enemy than if you had used a combination of skills. |

I think I managed to keep a balanced training...
14 Cutlass, 13 Pistol, 9 Dagger, 12 Doll. My biggest problem is getting the grenades to work -just got up to 4. I've started fighting the navy soldiers (well less than officers) with the dagger and can still get some decent rep from the veterans. To level the doll, I was in Fort Dundee (I think that's the name of the one on Padres) with a friend. He would engage with dagger to keep them in place and I would attune the soldier (and friend) and alternate with healing and pokes. I was getting mid 30's-40's for veterans and 50-60 for officers. I went from mid level 10 to level 12 in about 2 hours with only a handful of potions used. I got the grenade to 4 on the beach on Padres and attacking the Grenadier/Gypsy that generates in the area where you just get out of the water before the dock (a giant crab will pop up when you get out of the water). A grenadier I just attacked with grenades. A gypsy got 3 or 4 shots of hex eater and then a finishing diet of grenades. It took a while but I have long toss and the ability to aim somewhat (although I am still having a hard time judging range (similar to cannons at sea). I walked back towards the beach to take out a rock crab (not far enough for the giant crab) and then walked back. There's another generator before you get to the main town with raiders fighting officers but I got stuck there since it started spitting out raiders instead of gypsies. There's also a dread scorpion somewhere in there. Is this the best way to go for grenades? Should I try Kingshead? I went there a few times and could kill a veteran but it looked like I didn't get any points for it. Does anyone have tips for aiming grenades? |

Personally I train my grenades in the catacombs on Padres... as far as aiming... just play around with the camera, if you look more 'down' it throws closer, etc... eventually you get a feel for it
