Angry I hate sailing..

So many people say that sailing and plundering ships is their favorite part of the game. I am not one of those people.

Sailing is slow. You have to wait forever to get to the ship, which probably turned away and made you chase after it for two minutes, and you have to wait forever just to shoot again (also the reason I hardly use my gun). Seeing a "sink # of Navy ships" quest makes me groan and grumble. If we didn't have those quests, I'd be a lvl 1 sailor. :]

So, how do you make sailing easier/less annoying? And also, can anyone tell me where to find certain levels or certain ships (or where to find that out) because I sail around aimlessly looking for 7+ Navy Galleons and whatnot.

Oh, and, I have only a Light Frigate right now (I like Poker, but I'm awful so generally that's where my money goes). I don't get much gold out of my expeditions, so will that change considerably when I upgrade my ship?

The best thing is to join a crew. Having a crew (of good crewmates) is wonderful. Thats what makes sailing fun. When ur flyin solo, its boring. I was once like you. Then I mastered my sails and cannons lol.

We had a crew of four people on light galleon last night, we were making between 600 and 650 gold EACH every time we ported which was like every 30 minutes or so it was crazy.
This was done hammering lvl 20-25 ships with cannons then boarding. Easy money!
Poker is a joke 2/4 limit? Come on, lets have at LEAST 10/20 preferably no limit!

Talking if you dislike sailing

you're going to hate the 2nd crew list.

I'm on what I think is the last member of it. (the guy on driftwood island rebuilding the ship).

It has been nothing but sinking ships and a lot of them.

20 for the first part, then 36, then another 20, and lastly 8 more. What's worse is you have to plug 10-20 rock crabs to get the next part of the list.

The best place for eitc corvettes is between tortuga and cutthroat (hang a sharp left as you leave Tortuga).

Around driftwood is another good spot for mid-level ships but can get crowded. A gunner or two would help greatly (especially on the bow cannons while you're approaching).

The really big ones are around Padres and Kingshead and between them and Tormenta.

Find yourself a good crew to join (or a guild that's fairly active) and stay away from the poker table. A regular Frigate would help your cause immensely.

make friends ( by hanging out and not endlessly sending friend invites) with some ppl and sail on their ships. That way you dont have to do repairs. I made a ton of money early on by sailing on my guildmasters' war galleon. She was an excellent sailor! We would come off that ship every time with over 800 gold. The high cargo hold makes for excellent pillaging and plundering on the War Galleons! If you are on your own... sail out from Cuba for some bigger ships.. if you have the PDF teleport.. there are always big ones out there. Stay away from the Bulwarks, Panthers and other lower ships.. they mostly have smaller amts of gold.
I guess it all depends on your skills on the guns and the wheel.
All in all.. best bet is being crew on someone elses' ship to start off.

Sometimes sailing solo is very relaxing. I like to go to a quiet ocean, and just sail around aimlessly taking down ships

Just wondering, but have you all noticed an increase in gold plundered lately? I went out the other day, solo, on a light frigate and sunk oh maybe 4 ships, all lvl 10 or less...300 coin. Definitely several times more than I've ever gotten before. But nice, I won't argue with it. :]
