Disney plans to stop making Fairy Tale movies
It's true. Disney is planning to stop making Princess movies and start making more movies that appeal to guys. They're doing this for 2 reasons:
1. They feel they are "alienating" boys for making movies that appeal to girls all the time. 2. That some girls consider themselves to cool to be princesses. I for one am glad they are doing this as always when I'm looking to go watch a good movie, everything out is either babyish, a chic flic, or a fairy tale. If anyone wants to see the article they can just PM and ask for it because I don't think I'm allowed to post it here. EDIT: Sorry I misread the article they're not going to stop making fairy tales, they're going to stop making princess movies. Last edited by Swash; 11-23-2010 at 04:41 AM.. |

Who the heck has gotten in charge of Disney? These movies bring in big bucks. Not just from girls. I will openly admit that as a very young boy, I enjoyed the Princess movies. They should just make movies for the younger audience, and then ones for older ones (POTC, etc.)

Thats just plain stupid....
"Oh we are making millions and million of dollars off of princess movies, so ....WE BETTER STOP!!! and make boy oriented movies" Stupidity is frustrating yet entertaining at the same time O_o When I was younger I watched every disney movie that was on the disney channel, even the girl oriented ones, they seemed like great movies to me. |

My 13yr, 12 yr, 2-5yr & 2-4yr nieces are all interested in princesses, still. In fact so am I. WOW, I don't know who they talked to. I hope Disney doesn't doesn't ruin what they have because they have $ signs in their eyes and they think this is the way to make more money. They will be disappointed.

Those movies were like Disney tradition! The first movies since Disney started. Pixie Pyrates are NOT going to be happy when they see this.

Tarzan 1999 Fantasia 2000 (duh, 2000 LOL) Dinosaur 2000 Atlantis 2001 Lilo & Stitch 2002 Treasure Planet 2002 Brother Bear 2003 Home On The Range 2004 Chicken Little 2005 Cars 2006 Meet The Robinsons 2007 Bolt 2008 The Princess And The Frog 2009 And this year, Tangled. Now, check out that list. It seems to me that around 2/3 of it is geared specifically to little boys. Dinosaur, Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Cars, Meet The Robinsons, and Bolt were probably all designed with boys in mind. And D wants to say they are focusing on boys almost to the exclusion of girls?! Shame on Disney!! What happened to being a family oriented company? As if parents are cranking out nothing but little boys? What, do girls no longer matter? Or are little girls to be stuck with Bratz and .... movies... like that? And D says girls grow up to fast? Well gee, if they are stuck with Bratz because Disney won't give them a good role model, when Disney has always been a driving force behind childhood, what do they expect? Generations of little girls were raised with the belief that every girl could be a princess, and that dreams really do come true. Taking away Disney Princess is sort of like taking away the hopes and dreams of little girls. Way to go Disney! Disillusion little girls faster. Worse, it could teach them they don't matter as much as boys when they see noting but an endless parade of boy movies but nothing for them. Oh how twisted and wrong that is!! EPIC FAIL D! (Note: Yes, I actually mailed that to Corporate Disney.) Last edited by JM Ohara; 11-23-2010 at 09:00 PM.. Reason: Added a note |
