The "Recognition" here is something that doesn't need to be listed as plain as plain can be. Yes, Founders have the Founder sign. Yes, GMs have the Game Master sign, so in many eyes, why can't the veterans have it?
Because Senior players don't need a sign to explain that they've played the game for a few years. Those who have played the game longer than others will know more than those who just recently started. They have been in events others haven't, they have been in and seen guilds others haven't, and they just know the game better. I have played the game for just over a year now, but I've had an account since January of 2008. I remember the old Port Royal and old Tortuga as clear as the new ones. I remember that Port Royal and Fort Charles used to just be in the same place, no doors to pass through, just as easy as passing over a bridge and walking a little bit. Many don't. Ask a random player on the streets of Padres whether they liked the old Port Royal, and 7 out of 10 times the response will be, "Old Port Royal?" Having recognition for being an oldie could be nice, but it's unessecary. We don't need a title next to our names in order for people to recognize us. We know how long we've played, we know all the old glitches. We, in our own minds, know we have played long. And of course, you'd have to explain why you have a silver "S" next to your name to any new pirate. |

I myself have been playing since the game came out of beta, but sadly i didn't have unlimited at the time, so i rode the basic train all the way until i got a game card. But it would be nice to be recognized ya know?

Ok, yeah, having a distinction for veteran players would be nice. But how do you define a veteran player? A year? Two? To be fair you would have to recognize year marks. Which would need to be updated once a year. Not very practical. That said, I've been playing a year and a half. I don't really care if D recognizes that or not. I'm happy knowing I know a lot about the game, being able to offer help to those in need, and just playing the game. I don't really need anything else.

I've been playing since the end of December of '07 (or whatever day that was a few days after the deadline for being a Founder). I had lots of fun playing the game back in those days, especially with the epicly calming old Sailing theme that played while no one was at the wheel.
I miss that old feeling I would get when I woke up each morning to get onto my laptop to go straight to Kingshead to train my Grenades. |

Like POTCO, another game is going through the same thing in terms of years out now...that game being Team Fortress 2...what they did was release a badge of honor of sorts which came in 3 types: gold being for those that were playing the game since the beginning, a silver and then a bronze...I have the gold which denotes me being a "grizzled veteran"...
Now mind you Valve and Steam track these sorts of things in regards to their players...I'm sure Big D also could look up when a Pirate first started out and do something similiar if they truly wanted to...a gold for 3 years, a silver for 2 years and bronze if ye been playing for just a year... Many such as myself did start playing right after the cut-off for the Founders...recognition could be a nice thing because it would let others know we've been through the catacombs and caverns, we've sailed the seas and pirated eevery island, etc...thus if they should ever need help on a quest or just some advice on leveling, along with the Founders we "veterans" could also be there to help them out...we do anyways but a badge or even a nice Pirate outfit exclusive to veterans would be nice... |

To me, it would be something that Disney would have to constantly update. Like the leaderboards. And we all know how good D did with them (sarcasm). So, while it would be nice, it would be one more thing for D to keep up with, and you know how some people are... Someone will definitely end up thinking they're better than everyone without one. While I have played since 2008, and would like some kind of recognition, this doesn't seem like the best idea.

I've been playing since February of 2008 but did go off for a bit here and there when the game had a lack of any updates.

Great Idea, me and Pirate Guy (my other pirate) have been playing a month after the game came out but didn't get unlimited until sometime later... meaning we missed the founders cutoff... This would be a great idea

Senior players???
OK, I figured it out that it meant, "who has been playing a long time". To which I answer --- since the beginning. As far as the "Senior" part goes, yes, I belong to AARP ( no joke) and may be older than some of your grandfathers (again, NO joke). ![]() No...really.

No disrespect intended for our Founding players.. who are few and becoming fewer. I don't think a little recognition for people who have been paying to play for 2+ years would take away from that - but I can understand why you feel like it would.
