Weapon Ranks versus Attack Points
I'm sure this has been discussed before but I've been trying to figure out something.
Example: The Pirate Blade is a Rank 4 with 22 Attack Points The War Broadsword is a Rank 3 with 51 Attack Points Which sword is stronger/does more damage? Basically the underlying question is "Do the rankings even matter?" |

pirates blade isn't ranked 4 that is just the rank of its weapon skill, same with the war broadsword. I think that the powerful rank 4 is useless so the war broadsword is better.

The attack doesnt really matter for sword, only for firearms.
I used my pirate blade ith 22 attack, did a few combos, and the average damage for thrust was 1100, used seven seas cutlass with 80 attack and got an average of 1200 attack... seven seas has 80 attack .. 80/22 = about 4 times... but 1200 attack is not 4 times the amount of 1100... |

If you can do 5k damage with just thrust then either your computer is weird, or hacked. Even with critical strike, the max damage for thrust is 3k.

admirals has + 3 thrust so it owns but the flourish does about 1200 alone and the other skills have 1 skill point on them with my blade storm maxed

Tyler,
I've long had this question too, and still have no answer. The potco wiki says "Powerful is a special ability that can be found on the old weapons (before El Patron's Lost Weapons). Since the new weapons have much higher attack power than the old ones, this ability was given to the old weapons so that they still live up to their former glory (They deal approximately the same damage as they did before)." If this is true, maybe the powerful ranking is some sort of multiplier. Probably, like you, I want to be sure of what it means before I trash a weapon. Any one else know what the powerful ranking does? |

I've been using my quest weapons a lot recently... They dont seem to do much, all the attack damage are at the samea range, although the grand pistol from the old weapons deals as much damage as my famed repeater, skull bone repeater, and my taboo doll deals the same damage as my famed banshee doll. Dont know about pirate blade, been shooting guns lately, since it proved to kill enemies faster for me then cutlass.

Hmm, I think I agree with you ruisen. I tested my warding staff (attack 29) which dealt 1250 vs my tribal staff (attack ony 8, but powerful rank of 4) which dealt somehere around 1350 or 1360. My guess is still that the powerful ranking is a multipler - in other words, the tribal staff has an effective attack of (8 x 4) 32.
Anyone else have data on this? |

+3 Thrust would not let you kill a LVL50 Thrall (about 5k health) in a single hit, and it certainly wouldn't do over 3000 damage, when my bladestorms are doing 2400.

I have the same dilemma/questions:
1. If you already have a more powerful weapon than the Sword, Doll, Gun, Etc. upgraded weapon offered in the quest, is it really worth it running all over the place trying to get the upgrade? The answer to this one is probably in POTC 101 Answer: It depends on your playing style and goal. (Yes & NO) just depends on your mission. 2. Should I dump Pirate blade for X rare weapon with better attack? 3. Can I at least dump the lower level quest doll once I have the higher level quest doll, or other weapon. Now one sort of related question: Can someone explain the impact of "Low Critical Strike" on some weapons? |
