Wink Veteran Rank

Ahoy mates! Most of you already know there will be a new rank coming out soon that can add members, but not delete like officers, called a Veteran. I really can't wait for this update to arrive! Along with the new rank, officers will only be able to delete 5 members a day! This means no more guild crashing!!!

First of all, I was thinking of some possible ways on how my guild mates could earn this rank.

One idea is a level limit. For example, members who are level 40 and above are veterans. Also, you will need to have been in the guild for a week if you joined when you are level 40 or above. This may motivate them to level up!

Another idea I have is an amount of time for a member to be in the guild, which can be a month to a year. I know this proves nothing about the person, if anything, loyalty. It's just an idea, and it is hard to keep track of how long every member is in the guild, lol.

I was also thinking a good way to do it would be to go a rank at a time. For instance, you can't become an officer if you weren't a veteran first. And if you are demoted as officer, you are back to being a veteran (unless you break the rules and are booted).

Earning the Veteran rank can also be like earning the Officer rank, as you must be loyal for a while and follow the rules. Im not sure if this would take as long as earning the officer rank, probably shorter. Once you are a veteran, if you are loyal and follow the rules for a long time, you will eventually become an officer.

When I first heard of this rank, I was thinking that I should make everyone a veteran (except for the officers) so they could all guild people. But I kind of turned down that idea.

I really can't wait for the veteran rank to arrive! Some guilds may make a lot of their officers veterans, or make more officers, since they will now only be able to delete 5 members a day! This means no more guild crashing!!!

There are sooooo many ways to go on this one and I'm kinda stuck! It would be great if you guys could give me your opinions, ideas, and advice on awarding this new rank, and which ideas you think will work best. What would you do if you were a GM? If you are a GM, what might you do for your guild? Do you think having this new rank is a good idea?

Thanks for the help and fair winds!!!!!!

P.S. I never really thought of this, but I think it's important - a veteran's powers. Obviously, their power is to guild new members, and they should be instructed on how to do so. What I'm now wondering is if they should be allowed to be in charge of members. Personally, I think officers should be in charge of veterans. Since veterans can't remove members, it won't be easy for them to take control, and members won't be as intimidated. Plus, if the way to earn veteran isn't by following the rules and being loyal for a long period of time, they might not be as good of a cop. However, if a veteran breaks the rules, it would be great if officers are able to delete or demote them, too. This is another debatable topic, and I would love to hear all of your ideas on this one too! Thanks!

This ideas are good. However, all guilds will approach the new rank system in their own personal way. Some more experienced GMs have probably a way to deal with this new system. Some others have this rank system in their guilds a long time ago. Meaning that they screen their new members and those that will become Officers.

My plan is that after a member has been in the guild 2 weeks, they will be made a veteran unless I want to watch them more closely. All of my inactive officers will be demoted to veterans as well. Then, Im going to make it harder to be an officer. You would have had to be with us for a long time, follow all the guild rules, and have brought a few people into the guild that ended up staying.

I probably will mess around with the rules more, but thats my general plan for Shadow Sorcerors.

Good ideas, I was thinking to demote some officers to veteran, too. This rank is going to be very helpful in my opinion.

I'm not too sure about the " your a high level and your a veteran! " thing - levels have never proved if a person is guild material or not. In my opinion, a veteran would be someone who is the same rank as an officer, but just does not have the authority to boot members. Either way, members should respect veterans as well, as both officers and veterans should enforce rules. The veteran rank is a good way to teach members the way of an officer, so some guilds may use this as an "officer-in-training" thing. I don't believe everyone should be a veteran, though. Then anyone could guild anyone, and behavior goes unchecked for members, causing problems for the guild. All guilds will use the veteran rank in a different way, though.

I agree Slouyx. Level should have nothing to do with rank. Nor their history in other guilds. No matter who you are, you will have to through the process like anyone else. Even if Eric McRage joins my guild (never gonna happen, just using him cuz everyone knows McRaging is just about the biggest guild in the game.) I wouldn't make him a veteran/officer immediately. (No offense mate, I look up to you, just saying that nobody avoids the process I go through no matter who you are). I have made level 15s officers because they really deserved it.I also agree with your other thoughts Slouyx.

My Officers and I will be voting on the subject, but I myself have my own personal opinion.

I think that the Veteran rank will just be a new rank between Member and Officer. From whenever we implement the rank on, Members will be promoted to Veteran first, then Officer.

Promotion to Veteran will be relatively the same as the Officer requirements. If a member exhibits these requirements, they'll be promoted to Veteran. If they show they are more than worthy of the rank, they'll go to Officer.

No demotions will be taking place, either. I find it unfair if you decide to demote all your Officers to a lower rank. After investing time and effort in the guild, a demotion would seem like a slap across the face, aye?

Basically, we're treating this as barely no change of course. Just an extra rank between Officer and Member, is all.

The thing is Del, I have several inactive officers, and I have been meaning to demote them for a while, just not to member. I decided that I would keep them at veteran, because they earned a higher rank than member, but stopped coming online. This was able to help me shrink my officer corps to a smaller, more trusted, more active group.

Glad to see I am not alone in the above sentiment.
