Laggy Game Performance

I have it, and I don't know what to do about it.

If there are more than ten people surrounding me, the game lags. If there are more than ten people around me and they're all moving, the game lags even more. If there are a minimum of five people in an area attacking enemies (such as in Fort Charles), my game lags horribly. Not to mention when I'm in Abassa, it takes my pirate more than thirty seconds just to take a single step.

I have asked numerous people about this, and they tell me to get a better graphics card, but yesterday when I e-mailed the PotCO crew about my invisible undead invasion army, they told me that if I have a wireless internet connection, which I do, rather than an Ethernet cable, I should find an Ethernet cable and directly connect it to the wireless router. Apparently it takes away game lag and gives better performance.

Now, I'm just down right confused. Any pointers?

There's almost nothing you can do, the majority of the lag is on Disneys end.

How do I know? Because, I can play pirates and lag a bit, then put my graphics on high on another online game, with even more realistic graphics, and play the game flawlessly.

There are ways they can fix the lag that many regular players probably don't know about(me including), but they won't do it for one reason or another.

Anyways, all you can really do is get a new computer about every five years. If not, you're going to have major lag eventually. Better computers with better memory and graphics cards are all you can really do.

I have everything except POTCO turned off when I play it, and on my vista I have a little bit of lag. It's their end, not ours, and it's their job to fix it, not us.

Using a wireless internet connection will be more laggy, due to you not being directly connected (or something like that ).

Other than that, all I can suggest is lowering your graphics.. not really sure. As MacIronhawk said, majority of the lag is on their end. I play with my graphics on high (and have done so since I first joined). I used to be able to play the game lag-free. However, once they updated the islands, my lag increased. The only reason I think it's on their end is exactly as MacIronhawk mentioned, I've played better looking games lag-free, on the same computer. Once I sign on to Pirates, it's a completely different story.

That works with some lag if you connect it to your router. I was asked up update my graphics card but a disney tech support member but caused major lag and messed up my PC and I had to downgrade. So really it is disney fault with these issues.

This means you might want to replace your pc. The game will do a better performance.

Yea, cant play this game on an old computer... unless you want one step every thirty seconds as you said lol. If its an old computer, best thing to do is to replace it.

Also, I play this game using wireless internet and I dont have any problems with lag, except on abassa... but everyone gets it there...

Well, I think it could certainly be your PC. This game has some pretty awesome graphics, and I'd hate to see someone use wither on a 5 year old computer. I have a half-year mac, and I'm running 1600x1200, Fullscreen on high, so and new computer thats decent will run fine. I think.

I wholeheartedly agree. I have a custom gaming computer (though it is a bit cheap) and when I play pirates on high, I lag when I go past some people, and if I wanna hang with guildies I have to go to Medium quality. I used to play PotBS and had no lag, I can play GTA IV on Very High quality and Call of Duty on high with all the effects on without lag, even online! So why is it I lag on PotCO whenever I pass by a group of people?

Also, when the new island comes out, it will just get worse. Guess we either snap at Disney, or get used to it. I'm not very patient and would prefer the first.
