"Simply train somewhere else" would be viable, if you could switch servers and remain on the out island. (E.g. Kingshead, Tormenta.)

Does get annoying after doing 8 or 10 server changes to find a spot where you can work a boss alone. This after passing up several places that were allready occupied by individuals or groups leveling and treasure hunting. In this case it was Darkheart. And within five minutes after finding a server where I had him all to myself someone else shows up, has a bunch of their friends TP in and takes over.

So What!
My sentiments are "SO WHAT!" Thats what the game is all about. This is the most offensive term used by this forum and players in game. I pay and you pay.Get Over IT!

How is it rep stealing if you get a REP BONUS for 2 people attacking at the same time?

If you are within a crew yes.

You don't get a bonus unless you are in a crew, even then you still have a good chance of getting reduced rep.
Here is just a example I came up with regarding rep. Assume that pirate 1 (P1) is level 40, pirate 2 (P2) is level 30, enemy 1 (E1) is level 40, and enemy 2 (E2) is level 30. Now for rep, high (H), medium (M), low (L). Quote:
Now, it doesn't seem fair that the higher level player is receiving less rep. If you see, when both pirates fight an enemy alone, they gain medium to high rep. If they are both in a crew, soloing enemies in the same area will give them even more rep! |

from what i've read so far is from ppl obbsessed with getting rep i really have no care in the world if someone comes to attack an enemy with me its a MULTI player game theres going to be others out there if you have problems with that. i have just a few words for ya...
GET A SINGLE PLAYER GAME! reading these posts are fun everyone has their own reasons but the big one in flashing lights screaming at ya hasn't been touched if you'd like enmies all to your one some what in the world are you doing on a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER game? now what about if your guild teleports and attacks the enemy? do you freak out and call them rep stealers?!?!? i don't think so. just because you don't know someone and they come and attack the smae enemy your attacking means you can be mad and call them rep stealers... I'd like to quote my good friedns the Host GMs if you ask them to be your friend they say "I am friends with everyone no need to keep a list" Why can't we all be friends and attack the enemies together? just to get my point across this is a multiplayer game ya know? oh and another thing take into mind the pirates song.... WE Pilliage WE plunder its not I Pillage I plunder Last edited by Ofury/ Tom; 07-27-2010 at 01:42 AM.. Reason: added some more |

Before I say anything else I want to point out that I don't worry about rep stealing and such on A servers in particular and busy servers in general. In busy areas it is unreasonable to expect an enemy all to yourself. On quiet servers its a whole different ballgame. If a person or a group of people go to the trouble of tpng to a quiet server and finding a place away from others to play maybe they don't want you imposing yourself on therm. That should be respected. There are always plenty of quiet servers in this game so there are plenty of enemies to go around. No need to horn in on enemies that others are fighting. So all my comments here are assuming that the players are on quiet servers.

The fact that this is a a massive multiplayer game is no excuse for disregarding the feelings and game experience of others, in fact it is all the more reason to do your best to be courteous and respectful of others and let them level without undermining their efforts. Whats so hard about asking to join in? Whats so hard about saying "I need to kill some enemies that are too tough for me to handle alone, would you help me?" And whats so hard about fighting your own enemies instead of forcing yourself on others? If you can't do these things then you are the one that needs to GET A SINGLE PLAYER GAME, not those of us who choose to help others get rep rather then steal it from them. In single player games you can attack any enemy you want without being a detriment to others' enjoyment of the game. Quote:

I think Dan_OB summed that up. If someone went through the trouble of going to a quiet area, other players should respect that, and go to another area themselves (or at least ask if they could join). If you're on a busy server though (which the rep "obsessed" people here more then likely were not), the rep stealing conversation doesn't belong.
I just wanted to add, just because this is a multiplayer game, that doesn't mean people are required to play together. An MMO pretty much means there are a lot of players in the game, it doesn't restrict them to certain playing styles. Saying that rep stealing is okay simply because this is a multiplayer game is pretty much saying it's okay for my level 50 pirate to kill everything in a crowded Fort Charles. That's not really considerate to other players. On top of what's already said, other than rep, what other reason is there for someone to jump in on another player's fighting? If they want a quest done quicker, they could easily go to a busy server. Same deal with loot. As for rep, they can clearly earn more solo. Oh well. This really relates to the "Are people getting ruder?" thread. There is a person behind every pirate, and each and every one of them deserves respect. Players should respect each others playing styles, as well as refrain from rude behavior to others. Last edited by Sven Osymthe; 07-27-2010 at 05:48 AM.. |

What Dan said is pretty good. This could be a subject of people getting rufer or having to much pride.
Also the only time I see rep stealing is when sa low level, lets say like a level 15 or lower is following me around on tormenta and attacking every enemy after I get in a few hits. It just get annoying, but other than that I dont really have a problem with people attacking the enemy(s) Im fighting. |

maybe those people you see "rep stealing" is possibly a younger player who cannot type very well and just wanted to fight an enemy with you big bad pirates.... IK someone in fact that does do that a relative too young to type but enjoys fighting with others..
And my answers are baised because i've been around for a long time and still no mastered pirates i'm not obbessed with rep i just enjoy the game like i did way back when... I don't remember as many fights and conflicts back then... Aren't we all here because we enjoy Pirates Of the Carribean Online? Ik thats why i'm here... I'm not here to see who can lvl a pirate teh fastest. I'm not here to master out all my pirates alone and finish up the game so that i can demand new content because i've already finished it all. Now 7seconds think about that there lvl 15.... hes a weak little guy in tormenta surronded by all these high lvls he can't beat Then he sees this strong pirate over lvl 40 i would assume and he thinks "Hey maybe i can finally beat that lvl 50 captian there" Those guys can't just go get a different enemy because they are too low of a lvl. and more than likely these 'rep stealers' you guys are talking about are 4 year olds trying out a pirates online game. |

Someone doesn't have to type very well to understand someone doesn't want them fighting the same enemy. If they can't read what the other player is saying, then I really don't see why they're playing, or don't have someone there to help them play.
We're all here because we enjoy the game, that's why everyone needs to learn to respect one another. Some people don't care about rep, but they also need to realize, there are others that do. If you don't care about rep, why ruin the others persons playing experience by getting involved in their fighting? If you really don't care about rep, go to a busier server, and let those people on the quiet server do what they went there to do. A level 15 player may be new, but hopefully by that time they have learned they can only kill things around their level. If they haven't, there is still no reason at all for them to be in Tormenta. Saying that they may be "4 years old" doesn't change a thing. No "4 year old" should be online anyway, but if they are, they should have someone by their side helping them. And by that, I mean a parent or guardian. |

Rep Stealing
Players just won't give up about rep stealing,as offensive as it is from my previous posts. Why not just petition POTCO about the rules.See if they will change them that way they can suspend us from the game. That way you can have the servers all to yourself. Personally i am not a rep stealer.I pay for the game and until there are rules that say we have to be asked to play in a particular area i and many others will continue to do so.

Suspending players for rep stealing isn't needed, players just need to learn to respect others.
What is so difficult about that? If one person wants to fight alone, but another person wants to fight together, why can't the second person go to a busier server? If they did that, both players would get what they want. Saying that people paying for the game makes a difference doesn't change a thing either. Just like saying it's a multiplayer game. Both of those reasons mean I can let my level 50 kill everything in a crowded Fort Charles. That's not considerate to the others, now is it? My level 50's only reason to go there would be because I want to kill stuff, why would I make it difficult for other players though when I could easily go somewhere else? Plus, if paying for the game means you can play how you want. What about the other person paying for the game, the one that is having rep stolen from them? I like how paying for the game benefits certain players over others. |
