Who was El Patron?
I recently sent an email to Disney's Member Services, and they kindly sent me a response on who he was and a little about his history. Enjoy.
![]() Umberto Diaz, also known as El Patron, was the son of a wealthy merchant and adviser to the king of Spain. Using these powerful connection, he financed a lavish expedition to the Caribbean. Like many Spanish Conquistador’s, he set out to find gold and riches, but ultimately he became know for his weapons. When he had spent even the large sum supplied to him by his father and the king he used his artfully crafted weapons as collateral to borrow money from many of the shop keepers on Padres Del Fuego. When he left without repaying this debt the legend of these weapons grew, until both Jolly Roger and Lord Beckett thirsted to harness their power. Jolly Roger and Lord Beckett's men fought a bloody battle over the weapons when they were discovered on Raven's Cove, and now that they have returned, Pirates like you can recover El Patron's Lost Weapons from enemies all around the Caribbean. Some day Pirates hope to see Raven's Cove with their own eyes, and even repair the damage done by this epic battle, but anyone who searches for the island does so at a great risk. Some believe that it takes a strong voodoo priestess to even find its fog shrouded location, but all agree that it is a treacherous journey. I hope you enjoyed this, and by the way for people that want to know I did ask them if El Patron is Jolly Roger and he is not. xD-James O'martin ![]() ![]()

Nice info James, thanks for sharing! Not sure if it's just me but it sounds like they are hinting to the direction they are heading for all of this. Raven's Cove? A new Island? Perhaps an entirely new quest? I might be going out on a limb here but I'm finally beginning see a direction for POTCO, A light at the end of the tunnel if you will.. Part of me is hoping this is the beginning of a series of releases Big D has been preparing for throughout this lull, yet another part is thinking... "That's what you thought last time." I'll hope for the best, but I'm not getting too excited just in case all the same.

Anybody else think that this story arc is way better than that stupid kraken junk we've all been vying for for the past few years?

The Kraken is not stupid... Just slightly misunderstood.

It's difficult to say which is better, since talk of the Kraken in game has focused on the creature, as opposed to the, IMHO, more compelling Davy Jones story. It is possible that those who set a course to Ravens Cove will first encounter the Beastie. I remember when the official web site used to show Davy Jones. I'm still hopeful Davy will be added to the game. |

Smells a possible story quest?
Seeing as how they stated "Some believe that it takes a strong voodoo priestess to even find its fog shrouded location" it may be possible that there will be a quest, whether a mini-event leading up to the release of Raven Cove, or an entire story chapter revolving around it, which might require you to help this voodoo priestess prepare to send you off to Ravens Cove. Just a possibility, but it would be nice if it actually worked out like that. Thanks for sharing, James
