Release Notes - February 25, 2010

New Features:

• New Casa de Muertos Quest on Padres del Fuego starting February 26
• Expedition Fleets Set Sail - starting March 11, search for and sink elusive EITC and Navy Ship of the Line fleets
• Added the ability to ignore all Guild Invites
• Pirates will no longer become Groggy after being revived. They only become Groggy when they are sent to jail
• Reduced the amount of damage cannonballs deal to player masts and sails
• The sun and stars now have the correct orientation across islands

Fixes:

• Fixed additional AI crashes
• Removed the /bounce emote
• Fixed typos and grammar erros in various quests

Looks like we'll be having a lag fiesta, and/or glitchy fiesta once more, Pirates has definitely lost control over when they should update things.... by the way, look at the fourth to last word, erros is another type-o, if Disney put that on the release notes, then that sorta defeats the purpose of fixing type-os in the quests.

Were all of these items really ready for Open? I am glad they release new stuff, but I always get concerned with the testing & fixing time that they allow themselves.

Well, at least the fleets have till the 11th to tweak. Nice of em to put the date, but only if it works!

Feel free to stay ashore when it happens mate. They make it real clear when it starts and stops so you can avoid the "Lag Fiesta" on the high seas. If you don't mind I will be launching me ship and/or crewing up with me friends for some fun. I assume you were talking about the Expedition Fleet and not the Rott quests? I don't think the quests will cause too much lag.

For the record if you are having a problem with Lag you could always head to a quiet server to take on the Fleet but I don't recommend it. It would be interesting to try it with just guildmates though. Lots of ways to deal with the problem of Lag and with all the servers Disney has it shouldn't cause a lot of problems.

I look forward to hearing what everyone thinks about Captain Rott's quests!!

I love not being groggy after being revived it makes it a little more worth it to do.

Guildless pirates should enjoy the ignore button too.

When the Rott quest was first put on test, there were a few issues. But as of late, am not aware of any other issues.

As for the Expedition Fleet, they are still twicking parts of it, but seems for the most part to be working for the EITC ships. They navy version I have not seen yet. Would have to say that by the 11th, all should be ready to go. This part of the update is getting a lot of attention by the pirates on test.

Ok,,,,,if they reduced the cannonball damage to masts and sails....hmmm,,mebbe i'm off here...but, isn't that going to make the Expedition Fleet a lil bit harder than tested?... and, well, its a bummer in any case, cause I live to knock down masts ya know. Harder for the youngsters, too, in me opinion....oh wells....

Nay, you missed what they said about masts and sails. It is not a reduction in the damage that we pirates do, but the damage that our enemies do to us.

It's all alot of fun, mates. I get sunk regularly on test by the Expedition Fleet, but come right back to fight again. And Disney is still tweaking the Fleet. As for the Muertos quest, it is more difficult if you are a lower level pirate in the teens & low 20's. But I haven't seen alot of lag in either the Quests or the Fleet. And ya need to attack the Fleet with other ships. Not an individual ship thing. Still a novice here at the Expedition fleet, but it will prove to be alot of fun for all, methinks.

Ye are an awesome sailor Rannulf and I look forward to your take on fighting the Fleet! It seems like everytime we come up with a strategy it only works once in awhile or certain conditions.

The more pirate ships that engage the better and ye better plan on loadiing yer cannons with crew as well.

I have to say I love it!! Been waiting for a sailing challenge and this be it.

These updates are nice. I'm glad that the Fleets will be coming soon - although I'm partly glad it comes out on March 11th, because at least from now until then, they have a chance to fix up some of the problems that are occuring now.


In the Test Release Notes, I noticed they fixed the fact that the EITC Fleet attacked other NPC ships.

1: I thought it was pretty useful if you had an NPC ship following you. If you got behind one of the Fleet's ships, and they fired at you, chances are the cannons would hit THEM instead of you. The Fleet would fire at them, and there goes your annoying follower.
2: Why waste time fixing this when they could have thought of something else to fix up?

Also, DTP, they also did that with the Dagger. Plus, when you put away your Doll and Staff, it seems different from when you did so before these updates - or is it just me? I know it isn't.
