Jolly Roger's Powers

So In the story Of Jolly Roger it said that he became Undead because. Roger Wanted to be a Pirate Lord so he chalenged Jack to a Poker match. And he got a Witch Doctor to give him magic cards but he still lost against Jack. So he went and Killed the Witch Doctor but right before he did the Hitch Doctor Cursed him.

But my Question is that if Jolly was cursed why would he be given these Powers? Or how did he get the Powers? What you you guys think?

Well it sounds like he got alot of powers but he lost his soul and became undead, some what how jack sparrow sold his soul for the pearl.

Maybe it's the whole Fullmetal Alchemist thing of "In order to gain something, something of equel value must be taken." Such as Jolly Roger gained powerfull voodoo magic, but at the cost of mortality(or humanity, causing him to turn undead. you get the idea.. )

My question though about Amo Dorsi(found the name on a wiki.. ) did he curse Jolly Roger in self defence? or did Jolly Roger kill the Witchdoctor in self defence(but was to late in killing the witchdoctor and so, was cursed.) But somethings that are lost can be found again. Would it be possible for Jolly Roger to revert back to being human(most likely losing his voodoo powers in exchange) Anyways, back to the topic. either way, his powers that we've seen him wield during Invasions? Could be possible that thats just a small itsy bitsy teeny tiny smidget of the voodoo powers he wields. Same goes for what happened to Bo Beck, probably just a sneak peak..


EDIT: Who knows? Maybe Jolly Roger lost his right hand and left leg performing Alchemy and had Winry give him automail: The Peg Leg and the Gun! :P (Wont get the joke unless you've watched Fullmetal Alchemist, Sorry.. ^_^)

If Jolly was a regular person who simply became undead... then he wouldnt be much of a threat. Just because he went to Amo Dorsi for help doesn't mean that he himself wasn't already learned in voodoo...

OR

He somehow obtained his powers once he crossed over, after all - who knows what he encountered on the other side.

Very good Ideas. I think ( just like I think I saw someone else say ) That it was a Con and Pro. Yes the Witch Doctor cursed him but she also had to give him powers in the Prosses. My Sacond Guess would be that he stole his power ( Or Gained ) when he turned undead. Or maybe he already had his powers. They dont give much Info of his life Before he turned undead.

Don't really know much about it. But, maybe JR's power increases with each soul he collects. The power gained would be equal to the souls that he collects-some worth more than others. Didn't he tell Sparrow in the movie that in order for Sparrow to be free, he would need 100 souls? I guess all is not equal in the world of the undead..Aye? And I'm sure JR knows which souls are worth taking.

That is a very good idea. Like you said The world of the Delayed dead of Davy Jones is prity much the same to the world of the Undead of Jolly Roger.

Yeah, i suppose you are right about that.. but still, Jolly Roger's Voodoo Magic could have gotten(alot) stronger since then.. Whenever that happened..

Jolly Roger, after attacking Amo Dorsi, was cursed to walk the earth, soulless, unable to die, and thirsting for power. Yet his very existence as an undead being is sustained by the voodoo powers of Amo Dorsi's last curse. Since he is essentially powered by the lines of voodoo energy throughout the islands, he is able to draw on this energy as well.
