Question on Linked accounts.

So now that Disney has become a money hungry corporation is there anyway to be able to play on one account, two different computers at the same time? Like you used to be able to when they allowed you to switch between linked accounts before June 2, 2009?

No.
Logging into the same account bumps the person off that was on.
This is why Disney stopped it.
Pirates with a banned account could have limited accounts and get on from there.

So much for being able to play with your family members and all have unlimited access without having to pay ten dollars per account.

That I do believe is the real reason Disney removed that option. Such a shame.

It was a subject of much debate to be sure.
And there were a number of ways to solve the problem they claimed removing the feature was for (without requiring them to remove the feature).

They also promised a solution to the families having to get mulitple accounts.

So far.. they took out the linked account function, and have NOT supplied a solution to the families/multiple accounts.

Would be nice of them to offer some lower multi-account rate to make it easier for families. Maybe someday.

But just how many of us are really willing to wait that long? I've had my account for almost a year now but none in my family has played it the last few months so I was surprised today when I played it.

I still have yet to receive a Crew Kit like I was promised when I joined but I did get a pair of 3D glasses that I didn't even ask for.

Sadly Disney is starting to seriously lack in customer happiness and is busy worrying about CEO happiness.

I shouldn't have to wait. It should already be done. I don't want promises, specially from a corp who doesn't keep them. I want results as does every other so-in-so in the world. Including Disney themselves!

They should know better to announce something that they haven't even started on. What happens if suddenly they're not able to actually provide what it is they said is coming? What do they do then?

For me, at the moment game play itself isn't a real problem. I'm a level twenty-something and have a couple of stories running. I know that it will become a problem here soon, but perhaps by then Disney will have released some new exciting material. After all, it seems they have all these wonderful ideas planned...

Problem is Disney makes so much money they don't really care when they loose an unlimited account. They have the likes of Pixar and just bought Marvel for 4 billion what the devil do they need a few insignificant unlimited account holders for???

Now I'm dogging back a bit (I'm sure there's a thread with this info somehwere) but I thought you could write D and request pirates which you had on one account be transferred to a 2nd account if you wanted to use them both at the same time?

True, you do have to have to pay for that second account before they will do the transfer - but if what your looking for is for multiple family members to play at the same time with pirates they already built on that one acount - then its an option to look at

It would be nice if / when they would release a more automated way of doing that (like some type of selection screen where you see your pirates, select which ones you want to transfer and then select which account to send them to would be nice) - but since that doesnt exist now and you want the option, you can give that message a try.

As Zep mentions, a family package of some sort would also be nice (just like with their WDW tickets - the more days you stay the cheaper the per day price is - the more accounts you have the cheaper the per account price would be )

Why should I have to pay more to have my family play a family game? Milton-Bradley doesn't make you send them money in order to get the other pieces to Monopoly so the rest of your family can play.

There used to be a way to switch between linked accounts. My son's account is linked to mine and I have an unlimited account. My son has a pirate on my account and he would log in under his account, wait until he gets to his account screen then just switch over to my account and play his pirate WHILE (and this is the important part) I was already logged in on my account playing with my pirate.

The fact that Disney has removed that option, even though there are better ways to stop the banned people from going to their other accounts in order to play (which their reasoning makes no sense since the person could easily just create a new account. IP banning is so much simplier!) and has not offered any other way for multiple pirates on one account to play together reeks of greed.

Yes, my son could just play his basic account until he can play no more, but where exactly is the fun in that? We actually had a bit of fun playing together and helping each other out since there are so many people who even though you ask don't want to help anyone with anything and is just there to socialize (I've seen many characters standing around the beaches just talking to others--for hours!) and to be perfectly honest, it's a bit safer playing with other members of your own family--people you know aren't predators.

Disney has spent so much it seems just to keep us from saying the word hell in game so that younger players can enjoy the game. Not exactly sure what era they are in, but I've personally heard worse from kids in the grocery store. Don't think them reading the word hell is going to do much mental damage.

You do however bring up a good suggestion for someone willing to shell out an extra ten dollars a month these days. And it would be nice to not only have it easier to transfer characters between accounts, but things like gold between players! Keep in mind I haven't played this game for about four, five months and only played yesterday morning for about an hour to check out the 3D. I'm not quite up-to-date on what you can and can't do in-game. It was my son who noticed that he couldn't switch to my account to play his pirate yesterday when I happen to mention to him that pirates went 3D.

This is why a family plan would of "eased the pain" some before this got thrown in - many would of taken that option (and only the ban avoiders would be ditched ).

This may be old news for you, but it's new to me since I haven't been playing for about five or so months. Which is why I started this thread. I knew there would have been a discussion on this and probably in length as well. I got right to the point with this thread to find out if anyone has discovered a new way or could point out something I missed perhaps while looking around.

I did look around at a few threads before creating this one and obviously in the end didn't find a good answer to my question since a lot of the threads I saw were made before Disney removed that option.

Oy...yes I suppose if you absolutely had to have another shoe piece you would have to buy it somewhere...but how do you tell the two pieces apart when they're both on the board??? lol

Seeing as we are fighting our way through Dragon Age Origins Pirates is still second burner (if on the stove at all) and probably will remain that way. I've only kept paying the monthly fees due to the fact that there probably will be a time when I actually want to play the game again. *shrug*
