Not able to purchase ships anymore--anyone else? - Pirates of the Caribbean Online Fansite & Forums

When my first character got to level 19 the ability to purchase ships was lost for me (the "Purchase" button is no longer clickable). I sent a bug report, and almost 6 weeks later still no response from the game. So, I started a new character. Sometime during level 21 THIS character lost the ability to purchase ships. I'm more than annoyed.

Anyone else having this problem??? And if so, did you ever get the ability back?

I can't bring myself to start over with a third character. This sort of thing should have been worked out BEFORE they released the game.

Have you purchased 3 ships?
The only time I have encountered this is when you have reached the maximum allowable in your inventory. If thats the case, sell off a ship and it should be just fine now.

So you are saying POTCO knows that people (iow, you) are having this problem and they should have fixed it before the game was released. Makes sense....

6 weeks? I'm sure. Why don't you try the other Contact options? It takes them up to 3 days every time I contact them. And I had some issues.

I called after the 3 weeks and also did live chat. Both times they pulled up my case and said it was still being looked at with the developers.

Some of it has been rectified: for a week after all this happened I couldn't even board any of my ships. That finally just suddenly stopped being an issue and one day my ships would let me board. Oh well. I understood all of this happening while I was beta testing, but once live I had hoped a lot of this stuff would have been worked out a little bit more.

What's a pirate to do?!!!

I think I might see what was going on here, which if true, has happened to many of us. I need to ask a few questions to confirm it though.

1. During the time you couldn't purchase a ship, did it allow you to repair them?
2. During the time, assuming you had more than one boat, could you only board the last one you had been on?
3. Assuming it did allow you to get on the last boat you had been on before this occured, did it allow you to steer the vessel?

If so, it's a docking bug that's happened to alot of us, and I don't exactly remember how to fix it off the top of my head. If not, then let Disney take their sweet, precious, time. Glad to hear part of it was fixed though! ^^

This is what happened:
I was out sinking enemy ships. All of a sudden I noticed no one but me was moving. So I sailed into PR and docked. I could continue to do everything in the game but sail. The ship I was on when above situation occured showed as being in use, and would not allow me to board. I could not board my other ships as it still thought one of them was in use. That went on for about a week. I could not sell/buy/repair/anything to any of my 3 ships.

FInally, one day when I logged in and the ships were all there and I could board them all. I went to repair a ship and noticed the PURCHASE button was not clickable. I thought the above situation caused this. I asked around and found out you can only have 3 ships at a time. So, I sold one, yet the PURCHASE button was still not clickable even after logging in and out a few times. So I logged a report. And started a new character.

Must have been a bad day at sea. Just was curious if it happened to anyone else. My second character is working fine now (at one point I thought I lost the ability to purchase new ships with this one also, but after a few days after I sold the third ship I could purchase one again).
