The Illustrated Guide to Tortuga
![]() ![]() As you are standing on the dock looking to shore, the Misty Mire cave entrance is to the far left. There are a couple of low level Swamp Alligators to hack up right by the entrance to it. Just before that is the jail and before that is the trail off to the old part of town and up past Fabiola toward the Tortuga Graveyard cave entrance. Ahead is Orinda Le Jeune, the shack where her brother Tomas is, the Seamstress Anne shack, and the shipwright. Between Anne's shack and shipwright is the trail up to Hendry Cutts and the back cave entrance to the Wildwoods. The main part of town is up past the archway. Head up the trail to the old part of town and this is what you see: ![]() There is a blacksmith and gunsmith shop as well as the King's Arm tavern. Inside the King's Arm are: ![]() Giladoga, Andrew Bowdash, and Johnny McVane. Both Giladoga and Bowdash have quests that are part of the Black Pearl quest ladder and McVane has a quest line for taking out very high level undead (mostly on Tormenta) for not much gold. You can play Blackjack (no poker offered) here for 2 gold per hand. Just to the right is Tattoo Bonita ![]() To the right of this area is the Gypsy Fabiola and the entrance to the Tortuga Graveyard. ![]() Fabiola is part of the Black Pearl quest ladder and also sells tonics, upgraded voodoo dolls, and upgraded voodoo staffs. You will probably visit her often. ![]() In the main part of town is the gunsmith, the EITC office (an early quest to take out a secret office), and Doc Grog's. ![]() Just to the right in town is door way to Ben Flatts, the door to Boatswain Bill, and the pathway toward the old part of town, Fabiola, and the entrance to Tortuga Graveyard. Ben Flatts is part of the Black Pearl quest ladder. ![]() To the right of that is Scarlet and the Faithful Bride tavern. Over in the corner is the Bowdash Mansion where there is a quest to get Bowdash some cigars from. Inside the Faithful bride are quite a few NPC's: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Joshamee Gibbs is a central character to the Black Pearl quest ladder. Carver, Nill Offrill, and Karbay Benedek are also part of that quest ladder. You will also find the infamous Jack Sparrow here when there is a need to find him as part of some quest. He is not there if you don't have a need to see him. Also in here are: Davy Dreadbutler, Simon Hornbow, Retavick, and Hector Foulbreaker. You can also play both Blackjack and Tortuga Hold'em Poker here. Blackjack is 2 gold per hand and Hold'em here is 2/4. Take the trail over to Hendry Cutts: ![]() Hendry is outside chopping up wood while his wife Millie is in the center shack. There isn't anything in the other two. There are 5 cave/jungle/swamp areas on Tortuga: Misty Mire - Entrance is on the shore near the alligators Rats Nest - The other end of the Misty Mire leads into the Rats Nest and the Rats nest goes into the Tortuga Graveyard Tortuga Graveyard - There is an entrance to this from a cave by Fabiola and there are exits/entrances to/from the rats nest and the Thieves Den Thieves Den - Entrance is at the lower part of the Tortuga Graveyard and it ends going into the Wildwoods Wildwoods - Entrance is at the back end of town on the trail to Hendry Cutts and goes into the Thieves Den on the other end. ![]() Misty Mire Type - Swamp Difficulty - Mixed. Some easy low level enemy and some mid level mixed in Location - Entrance is at the far end of the shore on Tortuga where the alligators are. The other end goes into the Rats Nest Types of enemy found here: Sand Crab, Rock Crab, and Giant Crab. Swamp Alligator, Big Gator Fly Trap. Undead Gravedigger, Undead Bandit, Undead Pirate, Undead WitchDoctor, Brigand, Grenadier. Notes - There are some quests on the Black Pearl quest ladder that MUST be done here, even though as of this writting they do not say so in the quest. One is for Rock Crabs and I do not recall the others, but if you are not getting credit for taking out things on your quest, try getting it here and see what happens. The enemy right inside the main entrance are easy enough to take out that even a fairly low level can go in here, however there are mid level undead not far from here so tread lightly until you are a higher level. Head out the other end of the Misty Mire and you end up in ![]() Rats Nest Type - Jungle Difficulty - Medium. There are some level 20+ undead here, but you can get past them and just attack lower level undead quite easily. Still, go to this area with caution if you are under level 20. Location - You cannot reach this directly from any cave entrance in Tortuga. One end of it is at the far end of Misty Mire and the other end is from the top most exit from the Tortuga Graveyard. Types of enemy found here: Vampire Bats Big Gators Undead Pirates, Undead Witchdoctors, Undead Brigands, Undead Grenadiers At the far end of the Rats Nest is the top entrance to ![]() Tortuga Graveyard Type - Graveyard Difficulty - Low Location - The middle entrance to this area is located by Fabiola just outside of the main part of town. NPC's here - Andros Mallet (Found just inside the main entrance to this area.) Types of enemy found here: Swamp Alligators Undead Gravediggers, Undead Bandits, Undead Pirates, Undead Witchdoctors Notes - This is a good area to work weapons for newer players as there are quite a few level 1 - 5 enemy on the lower area of this map. The upper area has some higher level undead for those at mid range levels. Go out the upper area cave to head to the Rats Nest and head into the cave at the lower end of this map to reach the Thieves Den. When you head out that lower cave you enter the ![]() Thieves Den Type - Cave Difficulty - Medium/Tough Types of enemy found here: Cave Bats, Vampire Bats Giant Scorpions, Dread Scorpion Undead Gravediggers, Undead Pirates, Undead Bandits, Undead Witchdoctors Navy Cadets, Navy Guards, Navy Sargeants, Navy Veterans, Navy Officers EITC Thugs Notes - There are a couple of trips to this area required as part of the Black Pearl quest ladder. There is an EITC office/fort about half way into this cave and inside is a desk you have to get a letter from at one point. (See the following two pictures) ![]() ![]() It is best to take guild mates/friends with you into this area or go here on a server listed as 'ideal' to see if other random strangers may be in this area to help you. At the other end of the Thieves Den is an entrance to ![]() Wildwoods Type - Woods Difficulty - Lower/Medium Location - Easy access from the cave located on the trail between the back end of the main town and Hendry Cutts area. NPC's here - Jack Redrat (In a shack) Types of enemy found here: Cave Bats Giant Scorpions, Dread Scorpions Swamp Alligators Undead Bandits, Undead Pirates Notes - If you need to take out large quantity of either Giant Scorpion or Dread Scorpion, this is one of the best places to find them since there are two areas where you can find groups of them (as the picture above shows). Be carefull with the big scorpion area as there are two Dread Scorpions that will spawn if you get too close to the walls. One is near the rocks where you can walk between them as a short cut (there is also a dig spot here) and the other is at the other end of this pit like area. Not too hard of a place to either walk through or fight in unless you are still low enough that a level 5 Giant Scorpion is a challenge. |
