The voodoo doll does not offer an attune yourself to heal option, but it does offer you the Life Drain skill.
When you unlock this one, the life you drain from the enemy is added to your own. At the current time, this is the only way to heal yourself in battle, and I have used it many times to escape the Naval Vacation Resort, otherwise knows as the jail.
