IPhone vs. Android?
I recently had some trouble with my Sidekick from Tmobile, as some of you may know, the servers crashed, wiping all of my info. That was just about the last straw. So now I'm looking for a new phone and company.
Right now I have my eyes on the Iphone (ATT) and the Android that is coming out to Verizon. (I heard the Iphone is coming to verizon as well.. any truth to that?) Anyways, the plans and companies are not really an issue but rather the phone and overall coverage. Now I know the Android isn't out yet but I'm sure some of you know more about it than I do. Any suggestions..opinions?? Thanks in advance!!!!

With either choice - best to look at coverage areas as well (IPhones are nice - but have less 3G - Verizon seems to have more coverage but I haven't seen an Android yet).
In the end - its still gotta work (being nice doesn't cover everything )

I would say the iPhone is best, but I haven't tried the Android yet. But I'm sure I'd stick with the iPhone. Then again... I'm an Apple supporter, what do you expect. =P CS~ |

With over 80,000 Apps. The iPhone wins hands down, and soon to be realeased in China the Apple Stock wins as well.

I own an iphone and couldn't be happier. It's fast about 85% of the time, and the other 15%, i'm usually in places where less coverage would be expected. The android is still fairly new, which means it will probably have glitches in the system.
http://news.idg.no/cw/art.cfm?id=82C...EC68BC72CFC4D6 You can find a comparison there. As for verizon getting the iphone, it's pure speculation. At&t's exclusive iphone contract ends early to mid next year. Then whoever wants to add the iphone to their items can probably pick that up. Hope this helped. Zeke |

For phone, you can't go wrong with Apple.
For service...ehh, I haven't heard a lot of good things about AT&T. I'd stay stick with whatever has better service in your area. |

Alright i have Verizon and to let you know it has amazing coverage! Just incredible. And the android will be the New HTC Desire with HTC's touch sense O.S integrated with the android os and if you want to see it look up HTC hero thats the same phone for sprint. And it will supposedly coming to Verizon in November some time and also coming is the Blackberry storm 2! I have the storm one but its not activated because of the stupid blackberry plan which is a mandatory $30 a month as well as the other charges. So i defiantly recommend going with Verizon mainly because of coverage although i am a huge Iphone fan. - Verizon getting the Iphone? - Verizon cannot make a deal with Apple until the contract with ATT and Apple is over in 2010 sometime or maybe 2011. Don't be expecting that anytime soon....although they were making a deal about the new LITE? OR LTE? not sure but one of those is the new faster service that Verizon wants to implant into the iphone if they get the deal hope thats helpful and understandable ask if you need and clarification. Glad to Help if needed.

Not true, does noone any good to have a phone that doesnt get service. Coverage is in comparison about 3000% more important than 'nice'.
Having traveled around the US, and been to places that are often 'not covered', I know the frustration. Matter of fact, my Apple friend couldnt get his scores off his iphone the other day.. down town. Im not knocking the iphone, dont have one, seen them, they look real cool, and appear to do alot of neat stuff, but had to contradict the thought that people go for whats 'nice' before 'coverage', most people with experience with cell phone companies etc, know coverage is everything, 'nice' is just icing on the cake. A cellphone becomes a paper weight when it gets no service. Personally I would recommend researching coverage maps, and make sure you have the option of returning the equipment and getting your money back for 30 days or so. That way if you have issues, you have options to resolve them. I had AT&T.... had to switch to Verizon.... why? Coverage issues (dropped calls). And I live in a HIGHLY populated, very state of the art tech wise part of the US, they disguise cell towers as trees around here.. they are all over. |

Well the coverage around my area is relatively the same. Im close to a big city so I'm lucky enough to be in an area that most cell companies tend to focus on. But my concern now would be cost of the plans and quality of the phone. I myself am an Apple fan. But I wanted to take into consideration both options, since as you said, Verizon has better reputation when it comes to coverage. I know that most Apps you buy with Verizon all cost something, where on the Iphone at least some are free. I've been trying to weigh the pros and cons. Still not sure, but after reading a bit, it seems like a lot few people have had difficulties when it comes to prices and the bill with Verizon. Still researching for now, but thank you everyone!

I just got rid of my iphone. I loved the phone itself but the lack of coverage drove me crazy. I switched to a Sprint Android phone-Samsung Moment. And I really like it a lot. The coverage is much better as well. It doesn't have the number of apps the iphone has but that will come in time..
