New things that should come in the game

LOOPHOLES IN THE GAME
we sail ships, and yet somehow the masts come down when press the up button. there should be something like NPC pirates who bring these down or the ones who man the broadsides. these npcs should be for hire and based on their lvl their payment increases. the lvl is usually needed in case of enemies boarding your ship if you dont have a crew and especially for the manning of even the upper deck cannons and at times rigging of the ship.

MORE ACTIVITIES
but as most ppl know the cause for most pirates to leave the game is b'coz of the lack of things to do. i completely agree with them!! what about other skills we get to do other than fighting all the time! what about mending nets, fishing, lumbering, mining, making flags , smithing and other stuff. we need as many pirates said, the treasure fleets to come and a better movement of enemy ships at sea.

SHIPS
its kinda strange that u see an undead war frigate moving in circles and do not come to the help of their nearby friends unless we go a metre away from 'em. and of course new classes of ships. its so boring to see only sloops , gals and frigs. hopefully ship customization will do some good. there should be many numerous wild islands than the present and the islands should be placed a little more far apart. plus stowaways should be able to reach kingshead and other habitable islands. as the new ships come possibly even the enemy ships will have to change a bit. barrels of gun powder can be kept on the ship and of course dropped behind so it hits the enemy ship and explodes if we fire at it or put a tread with fire that takes time for it to burst. truly i would like to board an enemy ship (playing character's) and blast these barrels. one more thing to add is to make ships break apart when hit by cannon shots. panels shouldnt just catch fire they should break open and pieces of splinters should fall on the ground. and if u hit the portion below the captain's deck, the top will break to the brig. fury is very powerful; and ship customization should enable us to put shields specifically for these shots so they dont destroy half the ship. when u land the ship disappears into nowhere and such ships are usually as big as even the main islands from the outside. when we press the drop anchor thing we should instead enter the bay or harbour and park our ship till the next time. for wild islands ships should be kept right outside. if ship classes do come then i would want the enemies to be of the same classes

CONNECTING WITH OTHERS
i would also like to see a better way to connect with other pirates directly from my own startpage of pirates online. like sending messages to friends and seeing who are online and not. something like the player's page except immediately from the starting point of the game. i would also love to decorate the background behind my pirate. for e.g., i can put my war sloop along with me war frig behind. or even my pirate lair or any background we choose. even a battle scene between the EITC and pirates.

PRIVATEERING
Privateering must be classified into Island privateeering and non-Island privateering.
to privateer for the navy to catch a pirate crew would also rock, following them into the jungles where they are looking for treasure and hunt them down one by one. thats the purpose of many wild islands. first there are many loopholes on where the ship goes and how. as a fellow pirate Erazno said, there must be a secondary European power in the caribbean to privateer for. spanish and french privateering needs uniforms and the NPCs i mentioned. some involvement of the undead privateers should come into this. boarding will also be needed. Mainly i do believe that for the normal island battles we privateer in, the teams should be : French, Spanish and Portuguese.
The otherwise non-island battle privateering teams should be : the Dutch Trading Company ( to protect NPC dutch ships, to bring pirates to justice ), the EITC ( to attack tough pirates their guilds and their ships, enemy Dutch NPC's and privateers, to retrieve items and help in trading of goods of the Company, and capturing pirates ), the Royal Navy ( to protect their ships, attack Pirates, guilds and their ships, attack Dutch ships or to guard treasure fleets from pirates ), Your Guild ( privateer against other guilds across the seas, protect against privateers of the Navy and the Trading Company ). The Spanish, French and Portuguese islands have to just protect each of their islands which have forts, battle towers, and a litte more than the non island privateering, and here you can change sides when you want as you like, as happens now. The other non-island privateering only involves random quests that change over times ( such as, if a pirate becomes more notorious, he comes on the list of who all must be caught dead or alive ). This form of privateering is permanent, and you have to be a permanent privateer of any one of the sides. But you don't have to be permanent necessarilly all the time. The EITC privateering might expire after a quest or two, or if you have more allegiances to your guild. The Privateering for the non-island ones involves random quests that appear when they want, not when you want.
Whereas in guild privateering it is not made of quests, but instead the GM's own will.

NEW LOOT AND INVENTORY SYSTEM
im really looking forward to the new loot and inventory system. the trading part will be awesome if u could sell clothes to others, and also ur own smithed weapons that u made. random trade should be allowed

WEAPON COMBOS AND BATTLE MOVES
i think maybe they should also put it that we bang swords and that the button alt should be used for protection from swords then only it makes the game more of a game of skill than of skill points. add crouching kicking and punching to that. the voodoo staff should have the abilty to create a force field in the front of you as a shield against many weapons. other abilities needed are that we can be able to levitate things such as water and boulders. it would be cool if a grenade is coming to u and u throw it back hehe. energy rays is the final thing i have to suggest, i.e., a long release of energy that extends in continuity and clashes with other voodoo ray fire. oh i forgot to say that we can have the ability to choose the style in which we walk fight, etc . i dont like charging the flaming skull and holding it up like that

REALISM
apart from all the ship breaking i mentioned i would like other forms of realism. for e.g, Jamaica, Florida, etc. or more emotes like sitting, and actually eating and drinking. there must be a bar showing whether its time to eat or not. even drinking. when the bar is down to zero the person must lose his health slowly and show more action when hungry or thirsty.More NPC's should exist and do more activities. fishing can be one way to replenish the food bar. enemy NPC's must also do more actions like talking, drinking, etc

Okay, sorry, I really couldn't read all the way through that. Not to easy on these bad eyes of mine.

As for ideas. We are getting a good bit of new content really soon. For me personally it's quite enough to keep me happy. I do not want to have to hire NPCs to be my sailors. First off, what about when I have a crew already. Second, I can thing of better things to spend on than having to pay to go sailing.

There's only one thing I want that we don't have, a new weapon. Fists. Hello, we are pirates. Real pirates would have been very good at hand to hand combat. So why can't we do it.

Well , hand to hand combat might change the rating of the game , but then again
Thrusting a lone veteran doesn't so I'm not sure.

As for the very long list , first , use actual words , I got so very confused reading that.
Moving on , I do like the idea of having a Npc crew on board a ship, I wouldn't mind paying for them. It would add realism to the game.
But , I would just want them below deck for firing broadsides , maybe even hire a cook , however I don't think they should board a flag ship with you , they should probably stay behind and defend your ship , and in the event the boarding party fails, then can run back to their ship make full sail and make another attempt with a larger crew.

These are great ideas...
Maybe if computers get upgraded even more many more of these ideas could actually be playable, but for now you got to think of the LAG!!!

well yea actually i dont think having npcs to do ur usual upper deck cannons is reasonable, i feel they should do the broadsides and sail and flag hoisting. maybe even we should be the ones doing to get rep for a separate skill called sailing skills. cooking, lumbering, and other activities are really needed

Game ideas

LOOPHOLES IN THE GAME
There's a very good reason why you don't see NPC pirates all over the deck, they would get in the way of any PC crew and would take up a TON more resources to process each and each time. To that end, why have a crew aboard to shoot your deck guns? The invisible crews are already firing your broadsides.

We just accept that there people we can't see. No reason for PC overkill.

MORE ACTIVITIES
Having other career options or ways to earn a living is a nice idea, we're pirates. We're doing this instead of making an honest living. This would greatly complicate a game that has no standing economy.

What you're suggesting would add a whole new set of skills, inventory, etc. And we don't even have a decent inventory now or a trading system. It gets beyond the scope of the game.

Truly, what is needed are more REPEATING mini-quests. There are only a handful right now and they're laughable. Creating repeating little quests with random options would at least make it fresh. Like smuggling, treasure hunting, etc.

What about MORE tavern activities? I've already suggested this on the Grog Blog. How about darts, dice games, arm wrestling contests (using some kind of rock, paper, scissors game to play it out), coin sliding games (See Fable), etc. Again, these little activities are great diversions.

SHIPS
its kinda strange that u see an undead war frigate moving in circles and do not come to the help of their nearby friends unless we go a metre away from 'em

While logic dicates that allied ships would come to each other's rescue; logic also suggests that ships can spot each other MILES away. So, you would have one poor buccaneer being swarmed by a dozen EITC warships if he fired a shot.
Same applies to why when you skewer a Navy Cadet, the whole fort doesn't come charging.

Ship Customization will definitely be cool, but I would not expect a huge shopping mall of vessels to come rolling out. But, even two or three more hull styles would help variety. Also, once pirates can custom paint hulls and sails - the Caribbe will look a lot more colorful and varied.

CONNECTING WITH OTHERS
Can definitely agree that the login page should offer a little personalization. Either show the LAST ship you used or maybe your captain's quarters.

PRIVATEERING
Agree that privateering could offer more sides, but that complicates things a bit again. Perhaps a separate area. Keep the French vs. Spanish, but have a Dutch vs. British SvS area. Making it a free-for-all would upset the entire Lore already in place.

WEAPON COMBOS AND BATTLE MOVES
they should also put it that we bang swords and that the button alt should be used for protection from swords
I like this to an extent, but then it become more of a button-mashing game.

add crouching, kicking, and punching to that.
I would like to see some hand-to-hand stuff actually. The head-butt just don't cut it alone. I mean the French guys get to kick. Make it a Cutlass or Dagger skill, where you can kick an opponent off balance or punch them with the hilt.

Also, folks talk about adding new swords, etc. I'm all for variety, even if it doesn't affect how the weapon works - it still personalizes our experience.

REALISM
Actually eating and drinking. There must be a bar showing whether its time to eat or not. Even drinking.
On the food topic; again asking a bit much for a simple game like this to include such detail. But, keeping that in mind - once they expand the inventory, why not have working food vendors like Prymme, who would sell meats and fruits. These would work ONLY to replenish health at various levels, like tonics.

They already do this with the Pork being served at festivals. It doesn't interfere with our tonic consumption, just adds variety.

I think they should fix that bug where a ship spawns on you. It happened to me 6 times.
Twice with a Dreadnought.
Twice with an Ogre.
Once with a Warlord.
Once with a Storm Reaper.

Anyone got any thoughts?

first of all spawing CaribbeanThunder. it should happen like that. i man, can't ships just launch straight from an island (except undead) and the only movement those vessels do is mvoving around in circles or no reason.
its not a bug. i think u happened to bre in the wrong place at the wrong time (yet i consider u very lucky on the basis of what ships u got)

Try to max out "take cover" and be ready for some quick moving out. I always seem to find exactly where they spawn, and they go nuts, crazy fast. Think of it as a way to work on your reflexes, to make sail, cover, maneuver and fire around the spawned ship. With some practice, you can take out that ship and still have some hull left.

I think it's a good rush, cause it catches ya off guard, and ya have to act quickly or it's to the depths.

maxing out take cover only increases the time of take cover's effect not increasing the effect. a good thing to do is put skills on something like Tacking or Taskmaster or Windcatcher ( though i dont think it works anymore )
the new speed increase makes it easier ( and tough at times ) to defeat enemies

My idea for privateering had been to include a PvP part to it. Like a guild vs guild each with an island, a fort, and a ship crew. You fight it out on sea with the one who wins then going after the others base on an island(this is where the pvp comes in) and fight it out there. It would be kinda like a capture the flag pirate style.

I like some of the ideas Roger suggested and feel they would add to the game. I also think some while not bad ideas are not really helping so not needed.

I think the game could use one or two or ALL of those ideas! I think the eating and drinking would be cool.
