Are you planning to cancel?

I signed up as soon as it was available ( mostly because of the cloth map which I never got ) but this game just seems to be quite static at present so I was wondering how many people are likely to cancel their accounts if some new content doesn't get pushed out soon.

I know that it has not been out long but all the developer diaries etc just seem to have dried up and it really doesn't seem like they are looking at features at present and when we are paying for the game they should be long past ironing out the bugs and should be instead concentrating on keeping the game updated.

I think this is a good question.

I too realize it hasn't been out long, but the monthly fees continue so I think content to justify the fee should continue as well.

To me, this week, it's seemed like there are fewer online too.

I don't think I'll be quitting anytime soon, but I'm beginning to get tired of waiting for the next Story Quest...

Having no quests is incredibly boring. Leveling up weapons and sailing can get repetitive. I'm hoping the "expansion" is released soon also but all the bugs haven't even been worked out. Chat is still crazy, sometimes I can't click on people, and ocassionaly the program still doesn't log out correctly. Even with those bugs though I would still like to see the next chapter quest come out as quickly as possible. It would also be nice if I could get the cloth map and crew kit as well. Wonder which will come first? Mail or expansion? lol

Yes, leveling up weapons and plundering gets really boring...

I think they may realease the expansion on Christmas... Now that would be a good present!

First off, they are probably well behind the planned schedule for development. Why? Because they didn't expect to encounter so many high level bugs. They must know people are getting restless waiting on the black pearl to return and they still haven't fixed the bugs with grenades in forts.

Second, despite what any poll or general consensus here might say, Disney has a history to go by that says most of you will still play no matter how long it takes for them to get the next content out. Those who played early post beta TT ran into the same problem. There were many maxed out toons running around with nothing really more to do and no real timetable on when the HQ's would come out. There was an uproar all over the TT related boards and many said they would quit etc. Disney eventually put out law HQ and even those who did quit returned because they had a lot of investment in the game. When they got to the end of law HQ so fast Disney extended the limit of top Hollywood to 50. It created a very dull and boring treadmill that still exists over there and eventually killed the game for so many of us.

Point here is be careful what you wish for and lets opt for them to get more real content, even if it takes more time vs simply putting in treadmill types of pacifiers to keep us occupied while they work on the real content. Given their track record I'm not going to hold my breath.

Well, also knowing Disney, they just wanted the money, and didn't care that much about the game as much as the money! Disney=Money, remember that lol. Also, I asked why there isn't a quest after the black pearl they replied that they weren't expecting people to get there so quickly! I was mad that they would think that, after thousands of people heard about it, and were exited to play it, and the beta testers, that know almost all the quests to start with.

But hey, that's Disney, no shocker there, they want the money. If they wan't their money, give us more than bugs, and no quests after a while. I've seen people get rid of their founder titles because there were so many bugs that they couldn't play the game. I had a bug where it was giving me half credit, like the basic account does, and I'm paying for unlimited! I've also seen people stop paying when they finished all the quests, and leveld up all their weapons, or almost all of them! What's the point if you have done as much as you can? Again, that's Disney for you! VMK has had major changes that made vmk really bad, and makes the people who have been there from, or amlost from, the start of the game, leave or come on less often because of the bad changes, and they say they won't fix them!

I'm going to give more time and see how things develop. There's so much potential for this game. I hope the new stuff has quality over quantity of the tasks. But I also understand some people getting bored with tasks if it's too hard or takes too much time.

Go play Shot-Online or Fishing Champ for 6 months and then see if you still think Disney is all about the money. Disney and its games represent a brand name and both their image and providing kid/family friendly games are their priority. Period.

They failed to learn from their own past because TT was exactly the same. People leveled and maxed out much faster than they had figured on. In this game, they dulled it down so far that power leveling was way too easy. Their need to make it so kids can play always makes it almost too easy for teens/adults and that is a problem in every one of their games.

I still say I've seen this before and I KNOW what will happen. Even those who do quit now WILL return when updated content comes. At least the vast majority will. Why? They obviously liked the game to start with and if they made it all the way to level 40 or past being ready for the black pearl before leaving then they have significant time and energy invested in it. Their friends will tell them how really cool and fun the new area(s) are/is and their passion for gaming will compel them to return. It happens every time, and I've seen it in severeal games.

Build it and they will come. Fix it and upgrade it and they will return. That's how it works folks and they know it.

It's a good game, it's just obviously not finished yet.

The game has a lot going for it: very good character creation, decent storyline, pretty fun sea battles, etc. But it has too many bugs, it needs at LEAST one good "boss" battle, more complete guild and trading capabilities, and it's really TOO easy. I'm at level 22, and I can still complete a majority of the quests by myself -- by this point I should be needing to work with a crew/guild for most quests, I would think.

Seems like they released it a couple of months too early, probably because Disney's "sellbots" required them to have it out by the time the last "Pirates" movie came out on DVD, which happened on Tuesday. (The DVD contains a commercial for the game, and that decision was probably made months ago).

Knowing that things aren't really "done" yet, I'm trying to take my time with the quests as much as possible. I figure the longer I wait, the more complete the game will be. They're potentially not all that far away from having a GREAT game on their hands. Maybe I"m being overly optimistic, but I'd like to stick around long enough to see THAT game.

Where's the "I'm not sure yet" option? I have enjoyed the game, and I'm interested in seeing what they add to it. But, I may not continue to pay while I'm waiting to find out.

I also hope that, when they add new content, they increase the difficulty of the game. There are a few tougher quests, but so many of them are way to easy. It seems silly to me to have to kill enemies like level 1 to 4 swamp alligators when you're character is a level 18 player. And when you need to sink 30 galleons and frigates for John Smith at level 20 something, you shouldnt be able to sink level 8 ships to get it done. There are a lot of quests like that and it makes no sense to me, to be able to progress through the game without having to level up weapons and skills much. I only had 2 weapons that were near levle 20 when I finished with available quests. And, unfortunately, that really makes mastering them and the others almost pointless now. If it wasn't for the fact that I hate to leave things unfinished, I probably wouldnt. They may need to be maxed when content is added, but Im afraid that by mastering them now, we'll be taking half the fun out of the game later.

I guess for me, it will just depend on how long it takes for them to realease new content. I may work up one more character, but after that, if there's no indication that there will be anything new in the near future, I will probably cancel, at least until they add to the game.
