Changes in the caves!!!
At the Host GM events today, I picked up what I think are 2 clues to the near future of POTCO. Sandra, the GM Host on one server, said to watch out for changes in the caves...that will be the beginnng of the attempted EITC & Davy Jones takeover of the Caribbean...to rid it of all pirates and set themselves up as Lords. Well, when I think about it, the caves are changing...think of all the new enemies, skellys in particular, that now inhabit caves like Lave Gourge. Think of the higher level skellys in El Suderon. Could this be the beginning? Captain Walters also said, and I'm sorry I can't remember his exact words, that pirates will be able to raise their skills higher with better weapons to fight. Could this be the Notoriety Cap that we all have been waiting for? To me, it all seems to fit in events to take place in the near future of Pirates. idk...maybe I'm correct...maybe I'm not.
Anyone else got an opinion? ![]() Forgot to mention the higher levels in Menta, also Last edited by combatlizzy; 08-16-2009 at 12:25 AM.. |

Well, from what i've heard, you are correct. The host GM events that plenty call a waste, boring, etc.. they sometimes provide information on what is to come (if you find a server where people actually listen to the host GMs you tend to get more info). Skullduggery Bones also posted a thread a while ago, that was a lore made from what she heard in her Role Playing experiences.
In my opinion (given what i've heard in the events too), I think that these updates are gonna arrive soon.. so yes, you sound pretty correct to me (in my opinion). |

That would definately be much appreciated content, and Id love to be optimistic.
However we were promised new ships by GMs during these meetings/rpg events last summer, as well as a few other things that never materialized. One can only hope. |

I think the host GMs "information" is simply said to keep our hopes up. I'll believe what they say when it comes out, but until then, I'll just sit back and play my Console games.

This is ridiculous honestly I am at the point where I dont care what those devs say. All that matters is when the actual update comes out.

I must admit recent updates are promising.
They point towards future updates we've been looking for, and I would definately say latest updates are designed to support the destined updates. Notoriety increase, weapon increases, new story chapter, etc. Just a matter of when. The RPG events definately have some of this information intertwined to wet the palate of those hungry for new content. The way its delivered, ie "lore" also gives Disney a way out should they need it.. "we never said that" can easily be claimed if something just doesnt work out because its delivered in cryptic pirate speak for each to come up with their own interpretation/conclusion. Thinking about it, I do not envy them their jobs! We've asked for so much stuff!!!! 2nd Story Chapter Notoriety Increase Weapons Level Increase Gold Increase New Weapons New Enemies (The Kraken) New Inventory (larger) Ship customization New Ships Pets Captains Quarters/Guild halls Ocean Currents/Weather More islands (ie Singapore, PVP Island, etc) More quests (Clothing, Fortune, Jewelry, and Tattoo) Apparently some asked for changes in the pirate models.... We also ask them to fix glitchs used to take unfair advantages in SvS and PvP, and a few individuals also complain about the ones that can be used by only the individual for fun. We have asked for alot, and believe it or not I think that quick list from memory is missing several suggestions too. Deciding what things are more important than others, what may seem unimportant, but builds framework for one that is, etc. Thats quite a job. I think they try to keep folks interested while they toil on such problems using special events, and the RPGs to rumor changes and peak pirate curiousity. Thanks big D, I do know your trying. I am impatiently, waiting... patiently

I am impatiently, waiting... patiently <------ Yup!
I know we asked for alot but then perhaps Disney should have waited a little while longer before release to have these things ready to go. Ever heard of Wizard101? Well it came out last summer and in the 1 year its been out it has had 2 huge realms added a 10+ level increase along with extensions of its major story lines, as well as a HUGE player housing feature and crafting features all within a year and the makers of the game (KingsIsle) isnt even a large corporation they have 30-40 people for the whole company. So how can Disney (A huge corporation) spend 2 years without a major release! |

They've also said that they were going to bring out a new story quest about 5 months ago.... With all of this said, I wouldn't be surprised if all of these new updates being talked about in the first few posts won't be for another few months... ~Cpt. Sea

Comparing apples to oranges mate.
Ever heard of World of Warcraft? The game was announced in 2001, spent 3 years in development and testing and was released in 2004. You would think with all that time spent the game would be fully ready aye? It was almost 2 years after it's release that players received their first level cap increase, another year and a half before they got their second. Ever heard of Pirates of the Burning Sea? They had one cap raise during beta testing and none since. It's been out over a year and a half. Comparing POTCO to other games is pointless. Every game is different. Different games engines, different graphics, different game play styles. To say this game has done this why hasn't POTCO is just like trying to compare an apple to an orange. To paraphase Jack Sparrow: Can ye wait for it to get better or can ye not? If ye can't wait why are ye still here?

By comparing games, you need to compare companies and how hard they work. Toontown and Pirates online aren't a huge priority that Disney has been working on. If it was, they would have over 40 developers working on the game instead of 19. Nineteen people can do a lot, but you can't expect much out of them in a year... I mean two. If I was a Disney employee, I'd do the same thing. Hire a few developers and let them work on the game for a few years until it gets more popular. Then hire more when we know that we'll be making enough money to support the developers pay. I still think the game would be better today if Disney hadn't pushed the developers to release the game before POTBS. |

Yes, the RP events are to drop hints. But, honestly - there was no time frame discussed. And understand - I DO NOT DOUBT that they are working VERY hard to bring us this new stuff, however FEW of them Disney is actually paying.
I have friends who contracted for Disney; they are NOTORIOUSLY cheap - on wage and man hours - so expect that they have a small, but OVERWORKED staff. But, if there is really something ready to go - it will be PLUGGED on the site LONG before we see it... so no fear on something coming - just a matter of patience. |
