How to lvl up weapons fast

to lvl up weapons very fast is to defeat the bad guys in red tags. But if you are not strong enough, have another pirate help you, but weaker, then you get the most notoriety. Let's say your a lvl 20, and the enemy u wanna face is lvl 26, you should get an ally that's about lvl 14-lvl 18. And you guys will win because your teams strength is powerful. And ALSO, you should do CREW for CREW BONUS, the more people in the crew and the more people in your crew near you, the more rep. :arg:

Hey Zep, I must not be good with understanding something by just reading it but Ironhawks' guide is really confusing me. Do you think you could help me with some of the calculations?

It says...

In this chart we can see the Reputation point we get each time a weapon skill is used in the combat. Multiply this number with how many time we use that skill, repeat for all skill used in that combat, then we get the Total Reputation from that enemy which is always displayed after we win a combat.

And then...

Example:
In fighting an Undead Grenadier (with a Red level) we use these skills:
Cutlass:
- Hack+Slash+Cleave+Flourish (4x)
- Sweep (2x)
- Brawl (1x)

From the chart we can calculate the Reputation point (assuming every skill didn't miss)
Cutlass:
- (1+2+2+4) x 4 = 36
- 2 x 2 = 4
- 5 x 1 = 5

I'm guessing the X 4 came from using the Hack+Slash+Cleave+Flourish but I don't get where the two 2s came from. Does that mean the sweep skill was used twice?
Also, where did the 2 X 2 and 5 X 1 come from? I'm not bad at math, but I have no idea where these numbers came from.

I realize that many people think the guide is great, but I just don't understand it right now.

Mac, those are the number of times the skill was used.

- (1+2+2+4) (points from each attack) x 4 (# of attacks) = 36 (Total Rep Points for these skills)
- 2 (points from each attack) x 2 (# of attacks) = 4 (Total Rep Points for this skill)
- 5 (points from each attack) x 1 (# of attacks) = 5 (Total Rep Points for this skill)

Ok, it's much more clear now but...

Where did the 2 X 2 and 5 X 1 come from? I don't remember seeing any other skills talked about for the cutlass that were used yet these numbers come up. They were under the (1+2+2+4) x 4 = 36.

EDIT: Woops, now I understand everything. I've never been fast at math but once I get it I don't need to ask any more questions. After actually taking the time to look at the reputation charts I get it now. I probably should have taken the time to sit down and read it a couple of times before posting.

I think I'm going to go fight an enemy with my second pirate to make sure I'm getting everything right.

I find the best way to level the swords is...
Port Royal (1-8)
Padres (9-14)
Tormenta Shores (15-18)
Outcast (19+)

I have gotten leveled really fast using this strategy.
The tormenta part works with a high lvl gun too (like 15+) because there are crabs on shore. From what I heard outcast is good for it too. And the doll, I got that to 20 just by killing stumps with a friend your lvl. You can heal each other and hurt the stumps too. Once I get my other weapons back up, I think I will go back to killing stumps on outcast with my doll.
