Note to friends.....
I"ve followed the rest of our guild members to World of Warcraft ... So if you've wondered where the Sam Hill I am ... now you know.
I fought trying it for a long time, and I have no idea why! lol Because the 10day free trial came and went wayyy too fast! It really is a fun game - with so many different things to do. If you're already there, you can find my friends and myself in Garona/Horde I go by Alliekattsia and Darkallie. I also have toons by the same name in Kul Tiras/Alliance. If you've never tried it .. don't knock it! hehe Anyhow, there is no teleporting without "friend-linking" an account before you sign up. Which I found to be very helpful when help is needed <and believe me it will be> If you're not already playing, pm me or a friend of yours that is and ask for an invitation. Its NOT G-rated, and the account owner must be 18 years or older. I'd say its more like PG-rated. Words that are already in the filter system... just show up like *^#@&! And are not followed up by warnings nor suspensions or bans. Great for us adults, but ... kids <AS ALWAYS> should be supervised when online. SOAPBOX TIME: After all, its OUR job... NOT DISNEY'S... to teach our children about the real dangers out there and to continually supervise them when they're doing/playing something/anything that could result in harm. EXITING SOAPBOX Hope to find you there someday

I played... but I just couldn't get into it. Was harder to form friendships and find outgoing players to team up with. Not to mention, theres nothing to get new players used to how everything works. I got to level 18 and stopped.

I used to play WoW for about... 2 months :P A very good, fun game once you get the hang of it. Only problem with it is its price >.< Its not really a good game for those just getting used to MMO's to play, but I would highly recommend it to those hardcore MMO players. WoW is a hhhuuugggeeeee game, and you will most likely find yourself playing it for months, probably years without getting too bored. But, with that, comes a price. WoW is ALOT harder than POTCO. Unlike Disney, Blizzard won't hold your hand through the entire game. Also, the players aren't as open/out-going/friendly as on POTCO. Most of the people that play WoW are hardcore players, and are mainly playing for one thing. To play. You'll most likely only find yourself making a friend or two if you are in the same guild, you are friends in RL/from another game, or both of you just so happen to be on the same quest.
Overall, WoW gets a 10 for content, a 10 for fun, a 5 on the easiness scale, and a, eh, 5.5 on the price scale. Good for hardcore players, bad for those who are looking to hang out with friends more than play. Have fun on WoW if you choose to play it. I'm sure some of you will For the Alliance!

Well stated...
Very well put Captain!
I couldn't agree with you more. Yes, it is a bit pricier, but the challenge is worth it for me. I was one of the lucky ones <being the last one to finally cave in from our Potco guild>, by the time I got there, about 2/3's of the guild were Level 45-70 with at least one toon. So far, I've got myself a 47 Hunter, 61 Druid and 67 Death Knight all on the Horde side. The alliance side is relatively new to me, and a bit more lonesome... but I wanted to try it out. Thus far, a level 21 Hunter and 57 Death Knight who is just about finished with training. My 10 year old is there as well, with her highest toon at Level 36. She pushed for that because I wasn't going to buy Lich King for her until she hit 30. But she really has the most fun with playing with her tailoring job. However, when it comes to defeating bad guys, her she's better than I am. <sighs loudly> I love it so yes 10 on fun and challenge .... and also the fact that i have never had lag with them. How they do it, is beyond me. But the price for two accounts is a little steep. I just look at it this way: I have no other vices lol Looking for ya! |

I know a guy who is into WoW. I'd rather play PotCO if i had a choice between the two. I've seen its gameplay and it looks good but i like the theme of pirates more than mythical creatures.

Yeah, again... if you want someone to quest with, which IMO is most of the fun - WoW isnt the place to be unless you go WITH someone over there. The people just aren't nearly as friendly. Guilds are harder to get started, etc. Even the chat features aren't explained.
Oh well... I still like my POTCO... maybe Disney will eventually figure out we need more than modded avatars to be happy. |

Ive been a gamer for years. Love to play my computer games.
Hardcore? Perhaps in my earlier gaming years, but having run a game clan for 9 years, being a 'hardcore' gamer really wore itself out. Now I may play and put alot of hours into a game, that would mean though that I have lots of time on my hands to pass by, not that I am "hardcore". That being said, I really enjoy Disney's games, wether they be targeting youth or not, I enjoy simple easy to follow along/do games. Most of these larger MMORG games, just are too involved for me. Had a cousin try to get me into WOW, and the first thing he started talking about was 'farming' and alot of strategies of game play that just seemed extremely unfun to me so I never tried it. He showed me a screen of his level 70 or something mage, that was WAY WAY WAY overdressed, and when I pointed that out, he simply started explaining the significance of various parts of the wardrobe, and thats when I knew, that WOW was not for me... lol Give me the simpler things in life. |
