PirateAhoy's 1st Ever Picture Guide! Guide to Land Battles!
Welcome to my first ever picture guide!![]() This time it will be a guide to battling on land, rather than sea. Sometimes it's nice to kick back and whip out the sword after a long, hard day at sea, no? Please note I will not be covering Grenades or Staff. I don't have Staff quite yet, and Grenades still have bugs to them. I'll add them if they glitches are cleared. Please feel free to comment and add your thoughts to the guide. This one is going to take me a while to complete, so bear with me! The Weapons: F1: The Cutlass The Cutlass is the first weapon you should get. If you don't have it, visit Will in the Old Warehouse, directly across from the EITC Docks at Port Royal. The cutlass is the most destructive of the basic 4 weapons in the game (Pistol, Doll, Dagger, Cutlass). When used correctly, the Cutlass can be quite a danger to enemies. The Cutlass has no strength against anything but also has no weakness. If you're willing to take quite a load of damage to your pirate but want to get the thrill of sword fighting, press F1. (Pictures coming soon) F2: The Pistol After you receive your Pistol from Barbossa on Devil's Anvil, run around and shoot some of the crabs on the beach there. You'll soon discover how good the Pistol is. Unless your enemy has grenades, voodoo (exception: if you have Hex Eater shot), or the Dagger, this is a fabulous weapon. You can shoot while backing up or fire up close. Use Take Aim to get a more accurate and desctructive shot, or shoot the basic shot to get some fast damage in. Strengths: Against any non-range weapon enemy. Weakness: Ranged weapon enemies. (Pictures coming soon) F3: The Doll and F4: The Dagger are coming soon! POSTPONED > Too much lag for me to get pictures without blur.

This will take a while. I haven't logged in to the game in a while so I can't get pictures yet. Be patient, it may take almost 2 weeks to complete. Land battles is very complex.

Really? I don't think there is anything that complicated about fighting in this game. In fact there is very little to it besides making sure you are fighting things within your ability.
1. Fight grenade throwing enemy (grenadier for example) by standing right by them. They will injur themselves as much as they injur you with their grenades. 2. Attack cutlass enemy from a distance, at least to initially damage them. They can only attack next to you so you have an advantage if you can throw daggers, grenades, or even attune them and then run in circles while casting on them. Cutlass enemy may be the most powerfull in terms of raw damage, but since you can attack from a distance and they cannot, you end up with the advantage on them if you plan your attack right. 3. Often the toughest enemy are either doll users or dagger users since both can attack you from a distance. Avoid enemy of these classes that are too large for your level and attack with your best damage weapons when they are within your reach. 4. After you have built up doll to where you can heal, make sure you keep an eye out on anyone in your group who are being attacked. It is best to have the highest level person with you 'tank' (have them make the first strike to light up the bad guys and draw their attacks on them) and have the others heal and/or help kill the highest enemy in the battle. 5. Never go into battle without having enough tonics to heal yourself and have fully stocked consumable weapons such as grenades, throwing daggers, etc. Easy to end up in jail if you don't have the equipment to fight with. 6. If you want to take on high level doll users power your pistol to level 10+ as soon as you can and get the hex eater bullets. Shoot your gypsy, molusk, etc with these bullets until there are no more blue numbers, only red numbers left. This means you have drained them and left them without the ability to attack. You can then take them out with anything and they will just stand there. Most of ground fighting is a matter of common sense. You don't want to engauge multiple enemy at once if they are higher difficulty, watch your surroundings and know where the spawn areas are and don't stand near them after you take something out. Know your escape route and don't wait too long to run if you have to. Enemy with red level numbers may/may not be difficult (or impossible) to kill at your level with THAT weapon. That is, the rating system in this game is more dependant on the weapon you are selecting and what level it is at than your notoriety level. It is possible to have an enemy show red for one weapon and green in another. You get the most experience from red targets and less from yellow and green. You barely get anything for enemy with grey numbers. Use this information to your advantage. If you want to level up faster stay on beatable red targets. If you want to play it more safe then stick to yellow and green targets. Again, the most important thing to know is what weapon is your enemy using and how do you best beat that weapon and/or can you take out that weapon of a specific level at your current ability/level. Will you beat a level 19 grenadier at level 9 with a low level cutlass? Of course you won't, but only trial and error and continued testing let you know what you can handle. Besides that, the best thing you can do is learn what each skill points does on each weapon and have some sort of idea of how you will spend your 25 points on that weapon so you don't waste on things you will not use. That is something beyond the scope of a simple fighting guide. Each weapon really needs its own breakdown. |

I need pictures and everything. The game is too laggy for me to do much now so the launch of the guide is postponed. By the next Release Notes if the lag isn't gone, or at least reduced, I am going to have to cancel the guide as I will cancel my subscription.
