My Fathers' Day Weekend

Ahoy all! Just wanted to take a few minutes to share with ye how my weekend went.

Left werk early on Friday to pick up Matt at school. It was his final day and an early release at noon. So, as of Friday, I have all my kids out of school and home. We start planning and preparing for our weekend.

Saturday, we roll out to our beach cabin. We get there and have a few snacks, then Matt and I head out in our little boat to drop our crab trap. We take a little bit of time to drag a couple of lines behind us as we troll around in the water. After a bit, we head back in. Dog and daughter on beach just having a great time.

Start workin' on dinner. It's cool and a bit blowy out at the beach, so we light a fire in the wood burning stove in the cabin. The wife starts werkin' on dinner, and Matt and I head back out to collect up our catch. Not mutch, just one good sized red rock crab.

We take our crab in and I cook and prepare him. Dinner? Surf and turf! Flank steak and crab with asparagus and some very nice full-bodied bread. Afterwards, we all retire tot he living room and watch Benjamin Button. Well, sort of--I fell asleep. So we took a pause from the movie and sliced up our apple pie and had some mid-movie desert.

Wake up Father's Day morning. Make some coffee, stroll the beach, then when the rest of the family gets up, it's Father's day brunch time. Quiche, cheesy potatoes with bacon, chocolate and blueberry muffins, and a nice sparkling juice mixture. Back out for exploring the beach (found a derelict boat) and then more crabbing.

Back inside, opened gifts from kids. Made some popcorn and sat back to watch Yellowbeard. During the movie, the weather outside worsened, and I decided I need to go back out in the boat and collect the crab pot.

The weather started getting rough. The tiny ship was tossed. No crabs. Back inside to finish the movie. After the movie, dinner time. Canneloni and Fettucine Alfredo with Mushrooms. Unfortunately, I needed to come back in to work on Monday, so left for home after dinner. Good news--left the family out there for one more night and day at the beach. I'll be heading out again later on to collect them up and bring them back home.

Lizzy just took a break from cleaning barnacles & bailing & took advantage of the Father's Day Quest with double rep for her lil pirate. Felt good to just get away to the Caribbean, though....

Sounds like you had a picturesque Fathers Day Bart! I took out me father for a nice steak dinner with the family. It was a nice weekend....

Mine was rather productive as well.......family.....friends....food....and ice cold beer....I was rather tired last night.......lol.....

Well, me being a sibling my Father doesn't live with me. Right now hes in Iraq he trains people to be Police Officers there. So I called him and wished him a happy fathers day.

All Lizzy's respect to your Father, Indy....Very Happy that you were able to contact him on Father's Day and I'm sure that call gave him a needed lift!!!
