Angry Ramming Speed "Petition"

For anyone who has picked up Ramming Speed and put 5/5 points into it, I'm sure you will agree that the return is extremely disappointing. Ramming a Navy Bulwark which is level 5 should take it out, especially since it's a level 12 skill that should seemingly do a lot of damage. This skill is almost useless for damage, though. So, I request that people send in Feedback at the official site requesting that the damage is increased to a fair value so that people like myself don't feel like they've wasted five points.

Ramming Speed has been the main weapon for the Black Pearl/Goliath battle. Everybody who posted their story said they used the Ramming.

So you are saying Ramming Speed's damage is fine because it's the only thing that works in "1" fight in the entire game? which is still a bugged battle anyways

Ramming speed ATM is good for 1 thing, get away speed. It's much faster than Full sail in the short burst, but it has saved me plenty of times. I personally don't have 5 points in it, but I would be highly upset if I did waste the points into something so useless.

I have unlocked it (I like to use if for speed) but wouldn't put additional skill points on it either. I did in beta and, like the OP said, it really wasnt of much more benefit as far as damaging enemy ships were concerned (and, half the time, I completely missed the ship I was trying to ram anyway, because you can't turn once you've clicked on it until the timer runs out. ).

Unfortunately, there are more than a few skills where you don't gain much from additional skill points.

As far as ramming speed in the Boss Battle, I only recall hearing of one person that used it successfully there.

Think about it, I have 5 points on ramming speed, 5 points on increase speed by 20% and 5 points on the full sail ability.

A fast War Galleon can get to almost anywhere before any other player can, which means more plunder. I have also spent 5 skill points on increased plunder :-)

Speed is everything as far as I'm concerned. (Wasn't this the Black Pearl's main strength?) I don't care about ramming a ship, I use it for speed. My War Galleon can take down a Navy Monarch in 2-3 broadsides anyway without upgrades to the cannons, and I have a strategy that makes the enemy cannons miss me.

The enemy locks onto you with broadsides, and fires at your projected path. Thus, when you see them launch a broadside, just stop the ship completely. Misses every time.

Speed is everything as far as I'm concerned.

Unless they have changed something... The 4 points (past the first point) you put into Ramming speed do nothing to help your speed. They are only supposed to affect your ramming damage.

As far as never being hit, I'd have to say that's a load. Yes you can dodge canons if you are paying attention. It's harder with the Galleon than with a Sloop, but possible. But you will be hit no matter how fast you are at some point. I've been hit by "line-drive" cannons before that there is just no way to avoid.

My biggest question is , why 5 points in the plunder skill? 25% more gold right? but at the point where you have all the top ships/weapons what exactly is the point of gold? Hopefully they add things to spend gold gold, but at this point it seems very limited.

Ramming speed makes my ship go fast, and I mean REALLY fast. It lasts for 10 seconds on 5 skill points, and is very useful. True, the +4 points I spend do not increase speed any more, but do last longer. 10 seconds on ramming, 20 seconds on full sail = very useful.

And as far as not getting hit is concerned, I slow down to avoid being hit. Yes, you will be hit by one or two little cannons, but I am able to escape broadsides from ships 90% of the time. The enemy locks onto you, and where you are predicted to be. It does not expect you to stop your ship completely. As soon as an enemy fires a broadside at your moving ship, stop completely. You will see it miss (at medium to long range.) short range is where they hit.

And even when one hits, I have the take cover ability so minimal damage is caused.

THis all works fine for me, I'm not sure why everyone else is having issues with it :-/ Just gotta be skilfull I guess

It may go really fast, but it goes just as fast as someone with 1 point in ramming speed, just not as long, which I don't see as always being a good thing, since you can't steer when you are ramming.

It just depends on personal preference. You seem to be happy with how you are doing it which is cool.

I do still think they need to increase the damage on ramming speed though.

Speed isn't everything. I go plenty fast, that isn't the issue. I wasn't even aware it gave speed until I used it a few times. I was looking for damage, and I did not recieve. That is the point.

don't forget ships can reverse to dodge..

I give up at ramming, it's great as a quick speed burst.

Remember for ramming speed you need to be a fair distance away like 1/2-3/4 of a length of a frig away, you can't be like up close and personal with a ship and try to ram it because you don't have that extra distance "power" to ram it. If that makes sense...
