Broadside aiming

anybody else having problems with really lousy aiming when firing a broadside? I have to make sure that the ship cannons are aiming at the centre of a ship or most of the time they go nowhere near it this seems to be more of an issue on one of the sides

Due to some lag last night and this morning, I've been having some aiming issues.

However, I find that as long as I'm squared up or near squared up, I generally hit the target with the marjority of the cannons when I fire a broadside.

I don't know if additional skill points in broadsides help or not.

If you aren't already, make sure you use free look with the right mouse button to see where you are aiming.

Same for me as DKpirate said. The broadsides seem to aim pretty well at a ship when they are lined up beside your broadsides. Instead of all of them going their own direction like before and hoping at least 1 of them hit. It's like they have their own self targetting system.

This doesn't happen all the time, but most times for me.

Well broadsides usually won't go where u want them to go until a ship is enabled or locked on. Then when u fire your cannons should go to the point the ship was last at when you fired the cannons. You guys shouldn't expect too much from those cannon balls. They're not homing missles or heat seekers you know lol.

I usually get good aim while broadside aiming but once in a while it gets pretty bad for me.

Usually the broadsides are pretty good. But every now and then, they go really wacko, and shoot almost behind me. (no other ships in the area). I would again try to square up, and again they're shooting who knows where. But this is a rare occurance, and when it happens I have to log out and log back in.

Not sure how much of a difference the ship makes, but it seems to me the broadsides on the little sloops were really whacky, going everywhere but straight. Doesnt seem to be like that on most of the other ships you can purchase.

One thing that can be helpful is to use the scroll wheel on the mouse before you start sailing to get a wider view of things all the way around.

I generally do fire when alongside or behind the ships and try to aim it just seems that sometimes they go totally off course lol and i'm not to sure what they are tring to hit.

at the moment I am on a light galleon so I will have to see what happens when the war slops finally let me make enough money to buy a new ship

I do fairly well with my broadsides, maybe because I always adjust my camera angle right before I fire them. Maybe you already do this, but I think it helps to adjust your camera angle to get a perfectly sideways view of your ship. I use the ship's cannons as a guide, I set my angle so that the cannons are pointing straight and forward, as if I'm looking down the barrel of a gun. That will give you a better sense of exactly where your broadsides are going to shoot.

thanks!, I have been swinging the camera angle round a bit more and this seems to have been helping and making the shots a little less random.

Broadsides aim perfect for me. I've never had an issue with them.
