Percentage of quest completed off??

Today I was going through my quests and my sons. He needs to recover 12 of something. Well he currently has 2/12. His quest is showing that he is 11% completed but according to my math calculations that would equal 16.6% complete. Also on one of mine I have 5/6 pearls(recover from defeating navy ships). According to my calculations that should be 83.3% complete. The quest is showing me as having it 72% complete. On my quest I'm not getting an item each time I sink a ship. So I'm wondering is it a bug or a clue to how many more ships/skeles..etc we still have to beat? So maybe recieving your item isn't completely random but you get your items based on the level of what you are defeating for an item which will gradually increase your percentage completed...hope you can make sense of how I worded this.

I know in one of the earlier quests where you have to defeat the EITC officer (assasin quest) me, my son, and 3 of my friends all were rewarded with capturing the assasin on the fourth try. Now I wish I would have been paying attention and seeing if the quest went up 25% each time we defeated the EITC officer.

The only thing I know is that each skeleton/wasp/bat/etc you kill, each ship you sink, you will not automatically get the reward you are attacking them from. Sometimes you are lucky and get it on the first attack, sometimes you have to go through a few before you get your reward.

As far as the %s...I really don't pay that much attention to them. I just know that once I have killed/sunk all that I am suppose to, the quest says COMPLETE. So I'm happy. I'll pay attention more next time and see what I can notice.

I think they're off. For example with one of my quests that is still on my list is says:

Skeleton Rum (100%)
Make Skeleton Rum (93%)
Skeleton Rum Ingredients (5 of 6) -
but I only have 5 items listed and they're all complete lol obviously a bug

I've had that as well saying the overall task is complete when I stil need an item or two on the overall title line. I guess I'm just hoping that what I'm noticing on the sub-lines isn't a bug I hate it when I feel like I'm killing a thousand things and have no idea if I'm ever going to recover the item I'm looking for.

For example...on the assasin quest it would've been nice ot see that each time I killed an EITC officer my completion was going up 25% so I would have known the fourth try was going to be my lucky charm.

Overall I know its probably a bug...but here's to wishful thinking it isn't

Each time I kill/sink someone for an item in a quest I get a grey box on the far left of my screen stating what I aquired from them. Do you not get this? Or do you and you just find it annoying that the %s are not adjusting?

The percentages are not wrong they just are confusing. for example if you need to sink 5 navy ships you also need to go back to whomever gave you the quest to be complete so it really is 6 tasks not 5.

Yes I get this box that tells me item found or not found.

I'm just curious if its a bug or a sign to us how much work a quest will be when you are looking to recover things from the different enemies. Because like you said you do not always get an item for every eg. wasp you kill. So you may have to kill 10 to get the 6 items you need.

So if you need to recover five items each one you recover should be 20% towards the goal. So what I'm wondering if its predetermined how many you have to kill to get all five items (and even this number could be different for each person). And the percentage thing is a way for you to gage how many more you will have to kill. This would be especially helpful on the harder ones. Well for me it would make me at least feel like I was getting somewhere if I saw the percentages going up. For my part I'm sure this is just hopeful thinking. It's probably just a bug they haven't work out yet.

I was just curious if anyone had noticed a pattern to this. :h-smile:

When you complete a quest task that you kill/sink a target and need to search for an item it sometimes just doesnt find what you are looking for (yesterday i had to sink 5 navy ships before i found who i was supposed to find on board) i am guessing they add a probability percentage to find said item/person when the task is done, so sometimes you wil find it every time, while others may need to complete the task again ... its all based on probability percentages.

The percentages are wrong. My husband and I were at the exact same place in our quests, yet we showed different percentages complete. Also, my overall percentage for the list will sometimes go DOWN. And one day, my percentages were all over 100% complete - one was even in the thousands!
