The majority of youth of similar ages cannot. The genre of the game is not designed for pre-teens (does not mean you cannot play, but the question is pertaining to game design). If you want a comparison, go try Toontown, it was designed for the younger computer game players. The most violent moments of this game are a mechanical looking cog/business man blowing his top in a shower of springs and sprockets. Squirting flowers, throwin pies, and dropping pianos on heads for weaponry. The POTCO game on the otherhand has multiple adult related subject matters that they simply 'brush over' and try not to make too obvious so that the younger players can participate and most parents do not find issue with it. The movies themselves were rated PG, the 10+ rating the games been given i'll bet was likely 'worked' by alot of suits (ie lawyers) as Disney wants the game to be kid friendly also. RUM! They have you making rum in this game. Your wielding deadly weapons! Many of the youthful likely miss a few of the 'buried' jokes in the NPCs storylines that adults catch onto. I think they WANTED to make a kid friendly game, they TRIED to tame the adult content of the movies accordingly, and they RESULTED in a game still targetting adults but under moderation tactics designed for children. |

Example: If you went to the hardware store, and asked to see paint. You got a response "can I show you something else", you would say no, I want to see paint. "Well, can I help you with something else". You would get mad, maybe talk to a manager or leave or something. Why would many take this laying down when calling tech support at Disney. With poor followings like this at Disney, I would like to hope some things like Tavern take over, is a bit of a attempt to get some opinions. As well as maybe better contact, interests, input with players, to perhaps move players into the game, rather than out. If it ends up most feel the game is more a adult atmosphere, and they would like it more a kids game, maybe find out why this is happening in this specific example. Now if they would refect that on the glog blog, but I am sure they don't want every person viewing the game to read negative comments, specially if its dying. I still send in reality to them now and then, hoping at least someone has to read it, before rejecting it, lol. |

I put a kids game only because Disney wants it to be.
I think it's more suitable for teens and adults even though the game looks like it's stretching to kids. There's nothing that seems too adult for kids so I guess it's more of a kids game. But like Zeppers said, rum. The rum seems to be a big sorce of why it's 10+. |

I think disneys idea was for the game to target a bunch of kids but instead targeted alot of adults and teens along with kids. I dont understand how sword swinging to kill enmeys, use of guns and hearing the sounds of dieing crabs, teaching kids to gamble money with others, telling us about beer, letting us kill things with daggers and knifes, letting us lob grenades at each other, seeing some guy be burned alaive(that guy with the ship at the very beggining of the game) allowing alot of inaprrpate stuff on abbassa tortuga, and more resons make it only rated E10+. But the games still fun.

Aye mates. The young ones are easy to tell from us more experienced pirates. And for us of those who like to chat we beware.
