We have roast beef sandwiches every Christmas Eve.... a roast with onions and garlic simmered for hours til it falls apart in the pan. Good beefy juice...toasted rolls... pepper jack cheese.
My grandmother always served it Christmas eve at her house.. a way to feed a large group of people quickly so we could laugh and have a good time opening family presents. Lol.. it's the middle of the night at work... and I'm really hungry. Oh.. and cinnamon rolls.. both of my son's in law.. would rather have a pan of cinnamon rolls for their birthdays... than a gift card. (My great grandmother's recipe.)

The local Bruster's Ice Cream shop has just started something new. Every Tuesday, if you bring your own banana to the shop, they will make you a Banana Split for $1.50. AND you get to pick the 3 flavors of ice cream!
Standard toppings, of course.

OK, lemme tell you about my Martha day.
Was dying for a Cuban. Sandwich. Never made one before, no worries, I'm good at new stuff. no pannini press, one cast iron skillet...hmmm, how am I going to press these buggers...ah! Alton Brown, my hero, foil wrapped bricks. Got bricks, got foil, rock on. Fresh baguette, spicy mustard, ham, thin sliced pork loin, swiss, pickles, dab of butter....wrap and roll the sammies. Nice. Oven set to 400....now, the near death experience.....Decided to lay the pretty wrapped sammies in the cast iron skillet and carry them to the oven to smash the foil wrapped bricks on them to cook. Start pressing... on the open oven door...Bolt SNAPS on the double oven and as the burning hot thing starts for my head, I scream. The whole oven popped out of the wall and about landed on me. Can she cook? oh yeah. Has she brains? oh no. Is there a carpenter in the house? I need a new oven mount..... Yeah, Sarah ain't so bright. Kind of wish someone from AFV was there to capture it, I would have won the 100k. (i decided it was best to relocate the skillet and the bricks to the counter for pressing and THEN put the cubans in the oven...der) But they were awesome. Who Wants A Cuban? Sandwich.

OMG!!! SARAH!!! Glad you are OK. I'd liked a Cuban sangwich, without so much attempted murder of falling oven in it.

Never heard of Martha climbing IN the oven with whatever she was cooking! Hmmm, Maybe you are a combo of Martha and Tim the Toolman?

Found a new item:
There is a restaraunt I sometimes pass on my way home, it is a chain, called South of the Border. The food is acceptable, but they have two things that I consider above average: First; the Queso cheese sauce with the homemade tortilla chips. I have already ordered a quart of the sauce for Superbowl night party. Even better: One of their deserts, I think they call it Turtle Flautas! Light flaky pastry filled with chocolate turtles. Served steaming hot so that the turtle squirts and oozes when you try to cut it. Pure vanilla ice cream to counteract the melting turtle chocolate. You get 4 in an order, and even I can only eat 2 at a single sitting. (The other two go home for the next day!)
