What skills do you really use

I'd really like to see a list of each weapon type, with what people think is the most important to have max. I'm a mid level pirate (note 20) leveling my first pirate. I know I'm going to make mistakes and eventually make another pirate that has points allocated the way I want them, but if anyone has some guidance on the MAIN things to spend points on, I would appreciate it.

I have a feeling that once you become a master, there will only be about 2 things you use from each different weapon (not counting sailing). What are these 2 things for most of you?
