I dont like sailing really either, I prefer to be on cannon. And yet for some reason my highest leveled thing is sailing. I mean besides Notoriety.

I'm about to master sailing (happening tonight, come hell or high water).
And yes, for a while, I too hated sailing. Completed the teleport quests as soon as they came up because I'd always get sunk. I won't be maxing my broadsides. Mostly because I'm having decent luck killing everything with 4 points to a side, and I've put a lot into speed (there were times, early on, times I feel like getting out and pushing). Both sailing and reloading. Trying to decide where to put my remaining point. Haven't put anything in ramming, take cover, or open fire, and only one point in tacking. I like to stand off and lob fire in. I also tend towards galleons more than frigates (though the gold cap essentially forced me to buy my War Frigate...) |

I absolutely love sailing. I find it nice to sail the high seas all peaceful and alone on my ship. I don't even use the teleports because I love sailing from island to island.
I am hardly ever able to pick up a crew...I don't even care how good they are. Everyone always seems to be doing thier own thing. It's usually faster for me to go out alone, sink my galleons girth of plunder and port than it is to stand around asking for a crewmember. I love the challenge of taking on a ship with just my broadsides....gotten pretty good at it. Trying to outmanuever a Phantom all alone in a galleon is some intense work, but makes you feel great when it hits the sea-floor. Boarding flagships alone gets quite crazy sometimes too...if going alone, it always helps to kill a couple of the enemy crew before boarding. |

CrimsonRabbit - What's your pirates name? Mine is the same as my posting name. If you want to crew sometime, I usually drop whatever I'm doing for the chance to use a cannon. If I can get you on my friends list sometime, it won't be a problem, I have 3 or 4 guildies that love to go out regularly with me and we either take one of our ships, or like with Steely Jim, we'll take his and man the cannons all day!

Aye, it'd be a fair pleasure to sail wit' ye aboard the Fortune Defender, or the Aughisky (Dark-water Demon).
I'm always glad to hear of new converts to the High Seas. That's just more reason for them to be working hard on ship-to-ship PvP, as far as I'm concerned. Truth be told, the thing that got me off the High Seas to work on my land skills was so that I would be able to solo board bigger ships. One of the big reasons why I prefer using Grenades so much is that is essentially like Cannon, but with topographic elevation changes. |
