So I finally started to level sailing...
As in alot of other posts I have made, I have HATED sailing and it was stuck at level 10. I left the guild I started and went to Gold Runners as 95% of the time I hung out with them anyway...
So tonight I find out that sailing is really fun with a good crew! My guild master Nobody let me sail his fleet of war frigates the whole night. We hung out around PDF for awhile and hit the Juggernaut a few times, then headed out to outcast/tormenta for the Colossus flagship run. I leveled sailing 3 times in a couple hours! WOW is all I can say, great crew. I had so much more fun than just sailing with a random crew and going after smaller ships... Took a screenshot of this cause it wouldnt go away. Leadership was on the ship the whole time we were out... http://members.cox.net/white97ta/Leadership%20Pic.jpg So yay me! I finally get to buy a war ship soon! haha I know its no big deal for alot of you, but I am level 37 now and I haven't sailed for so long cause I couldn't stand not being able to hit the big ships. Nice to get over that hump. |
nice, im the same way. level 38 about to hit 39 and i have sailing lvl 17 and grenades 20. i hated sailing cause i would sink after like 2 ships. getting the hang of it now but have to have a friends crew. i learned that the hard way having people you dont know on your ship that just fire at anything and dont listen to you when you tell them dont use fire on flagships and all that. good luck on the rest of your way in sailing

LOL Sweet!!! i would love to lvl someones accounts. All I can do is lvl my sailing and cannons, and that leaves everything else behind. Of all things, sailing is the funnest for me. prob cause my guild n friends love it too :)

I dont like sailing really either, I prefer to be on cannon. And yet for some reason my highest leveled thing is sailing. I mean besides Notoriety.

I'm about to master sailing (happening tonight, come hell or high water).
And yes, for a while, I too hated sailing. Completed the teleport quests as soon as they came up because I'd always get sunk. I won't be maxing my broadsides. Mostly because I'm having decent luck killing everything with 4 points to a side, and I've put a lot into speed (there were times, early on, times I feel like getting out and pushing). Both sailing and reloading. Trying to decide where to put my remaining point. Haven't put anything in ramming, take cover, or open fire, and only one point in tacking. I like to stand off and lob fire in. I also tend towards galleons more than frigates (though the gold cap essentially forced me to buy my War Frigate...) |
I absolutely love sailing. I find it nice to sail the high seas all peaceful and alone on my ship. I don't even use the teleports because I love sailing from island to island.
I am hardly ever able to pick up a crew...I don't even care how good they are. Everyone always seems to be doing thier own thing. It's usually faster for me to go out alone, sink my galleons girth of plunder and port than it is to stand around asking for a crewmember. I love the challenge of taking on a ship with just my broadsides....gotten pretty good at it. Trying to outmanuever a Phantom all alone in a galleon is some intense work, but makes you feel great when it hits the sea-floor. Boarding flagships alone gets quite crazy sometimes too...if going alone, it always helps to kill a couple of the enemy crew before boarding. |
CrimsonRabbit - What's your pirates name? Mine is the same as my posting name. If you want to crew sometime, I usually drop whatever I'm doing for the chance to use a cannon. If I can get you on my friends list sometime, it won't be a problem, I have 3 or 4 guildies that love to go out regularly with me and we either take one of our ships, or like with Steely Jim, we'll take his and man the cannons all day!

Aye, it'd be a fair pleasure to sail wit' ye aboard the Fortune Defender, or the Aughisky (Dark-water Demon).
I'm always glad to hear of new converts to the High Seas. That's just more reason for them to be working hard on ship-to-ship PvP, as far as I'm concerned. Truth be told, the thing that got me off the High Seas to work on my land skills was so that I would be able to solo board bigger ships. One of the big reasons why I prefer using Grenades so much is that is essentially like Cannon, but with topographic elevation changes. |
Crimson,, if you love sailing as much as we do you should join a sailing guild. I know ours ges out nightly for a plunder run. Sometimes taking out a fleet of war ships for Juggy.

My pirates name is Crimson Rabbit....he's always wearing crimson. Usually on late night West Coast (10pm-1am). I'm currenly in a guild, but thinking of defecting as none of them seem to be on when I am...ever. I'll keep an eye out for you Soul Patch....I'm usually either on the seas in my Storm Hunter or messing around at the Fort/caves healing people. Like Steely, I needed to port my ship to up my skills as I kept getting "put in jail" when boarding flags.
I find that I level slower than all my friends/guildmates because I hardly play, so it's tough to keep up with them. It makes me feel like I'm in the way on their War ships filled with level 25+. Though I do wish to get on a crew that brings in the bigger payloads...I really need a war-something. |
i love sailing with guild mates or friends but hate it when im by myself it kinda gets boring then .-.

Woohoo. 2 more levels in a night, and bought me a war frigate! Renegade Revenge is her name, so be keepin an eye out mateys!:psmiley27: Sailed a few more of my guild mates ships tonight, made a ton of gold and couldn't sell a ship to buy a new one! So I had to lose a couple thousand to a friend. Just barely had time to buy it cause of maintenance lol. Couple more screen shots of the night of fun and plundering!
http://members.cox.net/white97ta/LVLUP.jpg I levelled on the Marauder going down in the background, we were taking on the Monarch at the same time tho! http://members.cox.net/white97ta/Reaper.jpg This one I just thought looked cool lol. Thanks for all the replies everyone! I am happy to be joining in the fun that is sailing.:sailr: |
