Right now i am level 37, (almost 38)

Cutlass, Pistol, Dagger Staff are all lvl 21. Doll mastered, and Grenades are at level 20.

Heres what I've found for the best reps for everything (Also dont forget to crew up for 10% more reps, yes works for land too):

For Cutlass, button mashing is the best (Less skill points the best). Best to save skill points instead of powering up weapons for best reps. The higher the attack, the faster the kill, the less the reps.

For Pistol i just use the basic shot. 1 point
Do not use take aim, standard shot and just shoot. Take aim makes a more powerful shot and kills faster = less reps.

For Doll i just use Poke and Swarm. You can also just heal others that battle and that gives you great reps. Alternate with your friends, they attack one u get the other, and heal eachother.

For Dagger I've found max reps come from throwing daggers. On stumps I use 1-4 mostly and get 110 reps in crew. That or button mashing.
Kililng a lvl 30 Stump gets me 110 rep.

For Gernades Smoke is the best for reps. Back beach of padres, Gypsies and grenaiders. Killing a lvll 25 gets me 70 to 80 rep. If you dont have smoke, start off at Kingshead and use #1 shot with one dot in the center croud. take a healer to start off until you get the hang of it. 6 vets can net you from 10-20 reps each.

Staff, start out on the giant crabs on Diftwood. Get the #2 shot, and then go crazy on that. Only use 1 dot per skill. SAVE THEM FOR THE PASSIVES ON BOTTOM. I cannot stress that enough. This helps on doll as well. The #5 IMO is a waste, I've never used it but once. Unfortunately my mistake and I lost 2 points on it by accidently double clickin on it. The #2 wil give u the best reps out of all, flame and Wither.

Hope thats helped.

P.S. if your a low lvl, go to the Giant crabs on Driftwood and stand in teh water for attack. Start off on one weapon, switch mid way to another. I did this when I was smaLler and went through 3 weapons for a total of 283 reps (max 110 crewed per weapon used).

Okay. But what's the point? If you kill faster, you can kill more. If you can do more damage in less time, you can kill higher level mobs that otherwise would kill you first.

One of my guildmates loves to board higher level ships, which often leaves us scrambling for our lives. Last night I was being chased by a higer level hired gun who was throwing knives at me while I used my doll. Higher damage with poke, swarm, scorch and curse was the only reason he died and not me. There's more fun in that kind of challenge, IMO.

It just depends on how you want to receive your gains. Kill a few enemies and get a lot of rep or kill tons of enemies to get the same rep. I would rather kill one enemies and spend the small amount of extra time to get higher gains and get 100rep. Then kill the same enemies with maxed skills and get 5-10rep.

Right now i am level 30, all my weapons are at lvl 20 except for staff which is at lvl 10 right now. I'm pulling 45rep off of lvl 23's with the staff right now. My weapons have anywhere from 12 -17 free points right now. Doing it this way also allows you to spend your points to better efficiency so you can spend them on higher level skills rather then maxing the lower ranking ones that ive seen many people do. I may switch to your method of leveling when all my weapons are at level 20, im not sure yet.

I would rather switch to higher level enemies instead. You take the same amount of time you're taking to kill the trivial mobs. I can still get good rep even with a partner (which greatly reduces down time because you can heal each other when needed) and I think its more fun to challenge higher level mobs. It's also more profitable.

I uderstand the problem that some of the lower level skills are not worth spending points on since there is a limit. But I aslo think thats more of a flaw in the game... we should be able to do a quest that effectively forgets some skills so we can learn others instead.

Aye this is a time when i wish skill point reset was possible. If anything allow us to reset once. I'll defiantly concede both methods certainly work. I have been considering changing to the other method once i get all my weapon skills to 20. Right now i just need 7 more levels in staff and ill be ready to decide. My other thought is that once i reach 20 in my weapons i will raise the weapons that are hard to raise/ weapons i don't like to 25 and then spend my points and switch methods.

For pistol, I actually found that using take aim gives more rep... but only if you start it, but shoot it as quickly as possible once it starts building up power. At that point, it does about as much as the basic shot, but I think the game considers it a more powerful (read: rep-worthy) attack.

All you have to do to get 110 exp PER victim (usually any red level enemy), is attune multiple targets (I have 4 in it), and just poke/swarm/scorch away! Takes a bit, but just run around and none will have a chance to attack you. When you're done, if you have a crew, you get 440 exp. FAST way to level up the doll and notoriety. I spent no more than an hour at Kingshead, and between Veterans and Officers, I went from level 8 Voodoo Doll to level 19.

Enjoy!

Warning, having the doll mastered sux!! Thats the funest thing to use and when you no longer get reps, it takes the fun out of it lol.

Well two of my weapons are 20 now and the other ones are 19 right now and rising. I should have them set to 20 just in time to level to get lvl 30 notoriety.

I'm thinking of spending my skill points at that time but im not sure yet.

I plan on using the doll on a nearly purely support weapon for healing others and myself.

I wouldn't spend skill points until weaps are mastered. It gets harder to level once your notoriety and weaps get high.

I'm not spending my points on Treasurerat till summer. I want to see what new skills if any, are available with the update.

Do they refund skill points when they release new skills or make major skill changes?

If not, they should!

I pretty sure they won't. However I think it'd be nice if they implemented a quest where you could then swap skill points.

Finally reached lvl 20 in all my weapons a bit more exp and ill hit 30 notoriety and get my staff finally. Havent really found much info on this weapon though.

Using this method though is really helping even with my stingy point spending, im at over 1400hp now and i still pass people who are around my level with half the hp as me.

Gotta say though i'm seeing more and more of those jerks that tend to inhabit rpgs. I hate having someone who starts attacking my kills and then freaking stalks me when i run around the island. This would be fine in its self but they refuse to say a darn thing when you try chatting with them. I mean atleast say HI.

I have fun with stalkers now though, i just run around and move in such a way that they will run right into as many enemies as i can get attached to them as possible. Then they either die or just leave.

I did have one that seemed to know a trick. He was able to pull an enemie and somehow get it to disengage and then it would start attacking me. Has anyone heard of this?
