There actually was a glitch that enabled you to do that. It's long fixed by now, but I'm sure you can find youtube videos of it. Anyway, while you can walk through people now, that's for invasions (as much as people dislike the fact). Sailing through islands would be kind of pointless IMHO. I mean, I want SOME aspect of realism to the game, ya know?
